I think if you ignore someone it's only valid for the thread. But if you ignore someone for PM then it's valid for all private message, this person won't be able to PM you.

Juan,

If you want to block PMs from someone, you need to go into your profile and click on the personal message options link.

If you have a user on ignore, it only works one way. They can still see your posts and they can still access your profile.

And rather than discussing that other little matter in Alain's thread and further hijacking the thread, I suppose here is as good a place as any.

NO, I was NOT happy when I learned that you have also cut and pasted one of my blogs into your blog - without asking me first. To me, it's no different than coming into my house, without my knowledge, and borrowing something of mine without asking. It's rude and quite possibly illegal too.

Had you bothered to take the time to ASK me if I minded, I most likely would have said YES. But it's really irritating that you didn't bother to ask.

It's a matter of common courtesy to ask before you take something that belongs to someone else. It can also be a matter of law.

I'm very interested in hearing what Smart & Strong have to say about your usage of blogs and forum posts from their website, without their permission. Or anyone's permission, for that matter.

This topic comes up periodically and people are always surprised to learn that you can't block members from viewing your profile. That's why you shouldn't post your email or IM in your profile if you don't want someone contacting you. I know forum members who've had to remove this information after receiving unsolicited photos and messages of a dubious nature. Even among our wonderful forum family there are members with ulterior motives. If you don't want people to see or read something, don't post it.

Well Juan, considering the reason behind you asking about the ignore function lies in the matter I brought up, I felt it was legitimate and not really a hijack.

And the main thing isn't whether or not what you did was illegal, it's the fact that it's just plain RUDE to take what people write without asking them first.

If it was rude for you, i excuse myself. You see.. international communication is never easy, i just talked about it in my blog last night. What might be rude for you, could not be so for me. In any ways... i would say you should be happy because you last post was very meaningful for people in Ecuador and they were almost in tears. You see, you changed the world and broke the stigma... isn't it what you wanted to do with your last post?? just wondering.

Kisses,

Juan Carlos (who loves Ann ;))

If you want to block people's posts entirely then here is a suggestion.

Download Firefox.

then

Download Greasemonkey.

That should give you the option of blocking posts from whomever you want, and it stays permanently until you remove it or turn greasemonkey off. There should be a nice big [X] right next to everyone's screenname. Just click that [X] and poof you never hear from them again.

Wow. Juan Carlos, I am sure with your more than adequate command of the English language that you are familiar with the expression 'to dig one's own grave'.

I have one piece of advice for you here...stop digging.
