Immortal song
« on: May 31, 2007, 04:06:36 AM »
I have just found a this beatutifull song by Serbian poet Miroslav Antic :
It is a  bit hard one but one of the most beautifull that I`ve had read , and it has been connected in a great deal with our status :

By Miroslav Antic

If you hear that I died
and if I was dear to your heart
suddenly something inside
will turn and become blue:
The fog on your eyelashes,
an ashy trace on your lips.

Have you ever thought
about the real meaning of life?

Like snow on your palm
childhood melting away in yourself.
Do they really exist?
Do they really exist?
On the ladder of imagination
boldly climb up to your youth.
It's waiting for you over there,
a beautiful but enticing rainbow.

And live your life.
Live it to the wry last drop.
Don't nibble at your days, like a mouse.
Chew the air with all your teeth.
Run faster than the winds and the birds.
Overtake them all
Never forget that all durations are short.
Smiling faces
in some mirrors,
find a wrinkled face.

Troubles arrive on tiptoes.
Years become grayer
While walking
you feel the world getting tighter and tighter
and smile more quiet,
and quiet
and somehow - distorted.

Therefore, live your life.
Live it to the very last drop.
I lived my life that way.
In fifty years alone
I have toured so many centuries

I admit that it was a bit foolish
sometimes topsy-turvy...
But I never stayed put...
All the time on the go...
on, and on...

Now, honesty, tell me.
Have you ever thought
what it really means to die?
And to where the dead disappear?
What endlessly called him?
Donít go to the cemeteries
- there, you will understand nothing.
Cemeteries are the darkest fair grounds
and an ugly stage.

You are not meant for such theatres,
with no heart, or zeal,
the theatres of dried up tears and laughter,
operating according to the graveyard rules,
with no quarrels, no songs,
no applause.
And the end is foreknown.

If you hear that I died
let me tell you what it will really mean.
A thousand motley fish
will be fluttering through my eye.
And I'll be hidden under the ground
and weed will cover me up.
But in the meantime I'll be soaring...
Up high.

Do you really think that my hand,
my knee,
or my head,
could, tomorrow, become
a willow's root
or grass?
Do you really think that some small secret,
or some silly fear
could, tomorrow, become
or dust?

You should know that I come from the stars,
that light created me.
Therefore, nothing inside me
will extinguish or shrink.
Only, one day,
on some random dawn,
I'll return to my distant Sun
with golden eyes.

That is why I am meant for the stage,
a good deal of heart and plenty of zeal,
the theatres of laughter and tears,
where order never reigns,
where there is quarreling,
and song,
and shouting,
and applause.
And the end is not foreknown.

I have lived a magnificent life
because I knew how to do it.
But, if you hear that I died,
- don't believe it.
For that I cannot do.
Love was the only air
I was breathing.
And smile the only language
that I understood in the world.

I have just dropped on this earth
to give you a wink,
to leave behind me
just a fluttering trace.
Therefore, don't be sad
because the only thing I want is
to remain foolish in your eyes
and strangely dear to your heart.

At night, when you lift your eyes up to the sky
you too, give me a wink.
Let it be our secret.
In spite of the gray of your days,
whenever you notice a shooting star
making the sky blush,
remember: that's actually me,
crazy as I am, still flying and living
