Pubic lipomas in 9.4% of Poz people?
« on: May 17, 2007, 06:06:10 PM »
I saw this interesting article on aidsmap:

Basically its saying that pubic fat deposits are an unrecognised part of lipodystrophy syndrome, and that they are actually quite common - some 9.4% of the study group had them.

Maybe it's not surprising that being overweight, or having an existing buffalo hump made you more likely to have a pubic lipoma. They were also more likely to occur in women, who suffer more frequently from all kinds of lipodystrophy.

BUT they also found that they were associated with shorter duration of infection  ??? I'm not sure if they're implying that they go away but it wasn't a longitudinal study.

So I thought I'd ask, as I've never heard of them...

Diagnosed January 2006
26/1/06 - 860 (22%), VL > 500,000
24/4/06 - 820 (24.6%), VL 158,000

Thanks for directing me here, Matt. From my post, you know that I have the misfortune of being a thin male of 21+ year infection with no other fat redistribution issues.  Mine started a few years ago, around about the time I switched meds last...to videx EC and lexiva.  It has grown since and shows no sign of going away.

Lexiva, Videx EC

About 18 other meds to manage my side-effects/concomitant issues like diabetes, renal insufficiency, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, etc.

Poz since 08/25/1985 or earlier

Safe journeys!

Ce fut une belle aventure...

Yeah, I have it. Its really cool. I have been on a no carb diet for about 5 weeks now. I am losing weight but at this point my weight loss has not been in the fat deposit areas so my hump, fucking turkey neck, and belly look bigger than ever because I am thinner everywhere else. The pubic fat thing is very ugly and means there is absolutely no chance I will ever get laid again and receiving a blow job is entirely out of the question.
