So I've started my clinicals.
« on: April 27, 2007, 03:14:35 PM »
Right now I'm in a nursing home working in the Alzheimer's ward, some of the residents are fairly alert most of the time and some of them just kind of stare off into space.

Yesterday I helped most of them eat their dinner and take a bath, they have a pet cat named Sammy, you have to watch it, because if you turn around, you'll find them trying to feed their food to the cat.

The dentist was in yesterday, and one of the resident's had a broken hip from osteoporosis, so I had to help him to bed so the doctor could take a look and see how it was healing.

One woman kept asking when she could go home, so I kept distracting her with the cat or I'd go get her some coffee or a cup of tea and sit and talk with her, after a few minutes she'd forget what was bothering her.

I'd say that in 4 hours, I easily learned more than I did in the last 3 weeks of class, and at the end of the day, I got two 100's on the written tests.

I think tomorrow I'll ditch the t-shirt under my scrubs, cause it's like 80 degrees in there, and I was sweating most of my shift.
