Hey deeva56

Best wishes for your situation. Please get your answers from qualified healthcare professionals. Gastric bypass surgery is a life-altering event which I heard makes the stomach the size of a few walnuts!!  :o So if you can imagine how complex it can get for poz people, e.g., some ARV meds require you to take them with food and your stomach gets reduced to a tiny size, well, this is where a doctor's guidance is an absolute must. For example if you have a twice daily regimen that requires food but your surgeon told you you can only eat once, well then, there's a conflict right off the bat.

Also I heard on the Oprah Winfrey show that an astonishingly high percentage of people who had gastric bypass become lovers of liquor because they miss food so much and can only eat x amount of food per day and they want to consume something, so that something = booze. Try to find it in Oprah.com When one skinny woman (skinny because of the gastric bypass surgery) and a doctor discussed post-surgery-alcohol-addiction with Oprah's audience, you could hear people gasping in disbelief at the statistics. Oprah herself was in shock.

Also, FYI, in case you don't know there's a women-only forum here on AIDSmeds. It's at http://forums.poz.com/index.php?board=19.0 Positive women are encouraged to open up and support each other. I hope serendipity meets you constantly throughout your journey.
