A Good Use of HIV For a Change
« on: April 18, 2019, 10:08:30 am »
I found this news article interesting. It looks like Dr's in the US have mangaed to cure children suffering from what is commonly called "Bubble Boy Syndrom" with a stem cell gene therapy that uses a modified version of HIV. They can apparently rebuild their immune systems back to normal status. Ironic considering they are using a virus that destroys immune systems and has killed millions by doing so.

Not much use for us yet but you never know what they are working on or what is round the corner.

Here is a link to the BBC report on it, I did find others on the internet also.
