ART (Triumeq) and upper side / flank pain?
« on: March 02, 2018, 12:55:01 pm »
I started my ART (Triumeq) regimen in October 2017, so about 6 months ago. Shortly thereafter, I started noticing an occasional stabbing pain in my upper left flank, under my armpit, in line with my nipple, which plagues me to this day. It's quite intermittent, maybe once an hour, and isn't bad enough that it stops me in my tracks, but it's definitely noticable. I'm concerned that it could be heart related, though my cardiologist has never found anything that particularly alarmed him on an ECG (I am treated for high BP and ectopic heartbeats / tachycardia). I'm also concerned that Triumeq seems to be associated with increased risk for cardiac related illnesses, though some have debunked this in recent years, and when I mention this to my infectious disease doctor, he sloughs it off. I'm also concerned that it could be referred pain from another organ, like my kidney or liver or spleen, or it could just be weird gas, frankly. I'm also plagued with some pretty massive fatigue most days. Has anyone else experienced anything similar as a side effect from their ART?

Ohhhhh mannnnn... I just want to feel normal again.   :'(

Nothing you mentioned is ART spesific and your doctor seems to be not concerned in regards to your meds, so that's good.

If you are having pains keep working with your doctor to find the cause maybe not with your HIV doc but start from fresh with a GP... Pain can be a sign of many things inculding common for everyone issues not related to HIV status or HIV meds at all.

As for the fatigue same line of thought, I'll add my own experience was a year or so after starting treatment I was shattered but I just needed time to heal I suppose and that was me. Pain & Fatigue can be caused by so many things medically both from physical and mental aliments

Hope you feel better soon.
