I am not feeling doing anything wrong, but I don't want bother some circles her neither.
So I will follow the majority of the votes.

I won't take it personally at all whatever the majority say, but as some to be bothered by a thread they can ignore, and as it is not my intend to do so, just let me know.

The purpose of the John2038's Research News thread is purely to be a compilation of the news with links to the source IMHO.

Much of the news you post would go un-noticed by many readers (especially new members) if you didn't bring it to their attention. By posting links, the new readers have an avenue to start their own research. I vote continue.

i think it's great to visit aidsmeds for support, along with finding all sorts of HIV/AIDS research news, all in one place. ;D The other RSS news feeds, etc that I use on my own don't often have the quality and quantity of info that gets posted in John's thread.

I think it's great to see that so much research is going on in so many different directions looking for a cure or a way to alleviate the problems associated with HIV/AIDS. Until John started that thread I had never really heard or read much info about ANY efforts towards a cure - just that nebulous "scientists are still looking for a cure". I still have my doubts whether a cure will be found in my lifetime; but it's good to see and read what they are researching; and to know what efforts are still being made searching for a cure.

It's redundant, since most of it is on POZ and the news service I get. Plus I think it takes up too much bandwith. so I ignore it.

I think it's great you take the time collect the information and post it with a link to the source. So a big thanks to you for doing that!  :-*

Since, I have dsl it isn't really an issue for me but I do understand Mssr. Shark's point about bandwidth.  Maybe you could start a new thread each month or quarter (or some other such fraction) so it isn't so long.

To address the bandwith problem, the solution is not about posting news less frequently (won't change anything), but either by:

- reducing the number of posts before a new page start - actually 100 (but this won't happen)
- or by shortening the size of a post.

Others solutions might exists, but those above are the most reasonable.
(For e.g., the forums RSS feed (see here) doesn't offer enough coverage.)

The news I am posting are gathered automatically by an application under development.
So I am not googling continuously the web, but just collecting the news (cut&past) and formatting them (I might write later on an application to produce the right format automatically so there will be nothing more to do than just posting).
Just saying in case of some where worrying about the time I might spend collecting these news ;)

FYI the news I am posting are gathered by a java j2ee web motor I am currently writting.
I am not googling continuously the web, but just collecting the news (cut&past) and formatting them (I will write an application later on to procude the right format automatically).
Just saying in case of some where worrying about the time I might spend collecting these news.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't very clear.  I wasn't suggesting that you post less frequently or provide less information but that each month/quarter whatever you start a new thread and the title can list the time period it covers. 

However, you do it I hope you continue to do it.

It was recently modified  from "keep it" and "leave it" to whatever it is now....that's what the confusion was from
