Post by: Bunny on January 14, 2019, 11:41:31 am
Hi Greetings,
Hi I am from India, In our city there is outbreak of H1N1, I have some viral flue like symptoms.
Immediately rushed to my doctor, he prescibe some anti bacterial
And my questions are
1. Is H1N1 hit PLHIV?
2. In our state there is shit like a law only Govt Labs done the swab tests, no private labs are not permitted?
3. How many days after symptoms of H1N1 get tested
4. Is without testing can I take tamiflue?
5.is swine flu harm to PLHIV?
6. Is it curable without antivirals?
Sorry for so many questions .

Hiya

Sorry to hear you are feeling unwell and hope you feel better soon.

So you saw the doctor and they gave you anti bacterial, do you mean antibiotics?
Does the Doctor think its a bacterial infection not viral?

Regarding the question well from what I know:

Q1 & Q5:
Look Influenza can and does kill people every year, it can kill regardless of HIV status, so do the sub-types of H1N1 and the newer sub-types of Swine Flu. Hence the flu jab is recommended.

Q6
Yeah, someone with flu can get better without treatment, same for Swine Flu however people also die with or without treatment, in part due to complications that develop.

Q4
Up to you, I mean practically speaking you could, but why would you take something for an issue you may not have would be my thinking but that's just me. Also before taking any medication like Tamiflu you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist

Q2 & Q3 - No idea.

Look I hope you feel better soon, follow the doctors advice and if you did not get the jab this year than do if possible get the flu jab next year to reduce the odds of acquiring flu and if caught the duration/severity of flu illness.  https://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=70623.0

Hiya

Well every year the mix is slightly different against what is the predicted flu.
I think the mix recently was:

Northern Hemisphere (2018)
an A/Michigan/45/2015 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus;
an A/Singapore/INFIMH-16-0019/2016 (H3N2)-like virus;
a B/Colorado/06/2017-like virus (B/Victoria/2/87 lineage); and
a B/Phuket/3073/2013-like virus (B/Yamagata/16/88 lineage).

Southern Hemisphere
For H1N1, an A/Michigan/45/2015-like virus
For H3N2, an A/Switzerland/8060/2017)-like virus
For B Victoria, a B/Colorado/06/2017-like virus
For B Yamagata, a B/Phuket/3073/2013-like virus

There is a basic Q&A on seasonal flu here: https://www.who.int/en/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/influenza-(seasonal)
