Title: Cold Sore Lips
Post by: Loa111 on November 26, 2019, 03:49:41 am
I've a horrible big cold sore on my lips. Hurts too, especially if I eat something salty.

Wondering with my poz condition and being in a recent advanced stage, is there anything extra to worry about with this cold sore?

Think I will go get a cream for it from pharmacy, and I've been taking ibruprofen when the pain gets too stingy...ouch.

Nothing extra to start worrying about.

Cold sores suck and I hope the cream gets it the outbreak settled back down soon.
Best, Jim

Hello,

I know the feeling.  Back in 2003, when the aids diagnosis came down, I had a brief period of time, ( A week or two) when I had a lot of issues with my lips, and sores.  For a while there my lips were a mess, and painful.

If possible, get a prescription for valacyclovir.  Another medication I used ( Over the counter) was "Abreva" This worked very well too. I also, very carefully cleaned around the area, with Hydrogen Peroxide. Just apply it to Q tips, to clean and then apply the  Abreva.

Hopefully this will clear up very quickly for you ! By the way,  I never had those issues again !

Thank you for the extra info. Iíve got an over the counter cold sore cream though pharmacist said creams work best if you get the cold sore at the very beginning.

This is the worst messy massive one if ever had, itís two merged into one and is still there. Hoping a few more days will see if shrink.
