Title: Test Result
Post by: Papercut1006 on December 28, 2023, 10:00:07 am
Hi, I’m a female. In July, I found out BF cheated on me with different women online. He swore that he was very careful and used condoms all the time. His words meant nothing to me. I cut him out of my life immediately after I found out his infidelity. During the relationship, I always used condoms so that his penis was allowed to touch me without a condom on, but condomless for oral. I don’t do anal. So last sex with him back in July was condom for vaginal and condomless for oral. I waited until this Tuesday 12/26 for a comprehensive STDs screening including HIV. I have not had sex ever since July. Yesterday I received the result, all negative and HIV 4th gen result is non-reactive. My question is, is the result conclusive after 5 months? Thank you! I feel like I’m getting paranoid!!

Hiya.

Read your post three times. Essentially, you had no HIV risk, have now tested, and the result is non-reactive as expected. Relax and move on with your life.

So, great, HIV can't be transmitted through an intact latex or polyurethane condom. Unless a condom obviously fails during intercourse, there is no reason to be stressing or testing for HIV outside the standard yearly HIV screening.

As for oral, cunnilingus isn't an HIv concern and as for the blowjobs, the mouth generally lacks a route for HIV to infect. Also, saliva neutralises HIV by damaging the receptors needed to infect human cells. Giving a blowjob is such a minute HIV risk that it doesn't warrant testing outside the standard yearly screening.

If you do try anal sex in the future, make sure to use condoms, you could try thicker condoms designed for anal sex and make sure to use plenty of condom-safe lube (water-based lubricant)

Here's what you need to know to avoid HIV infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions. Consider talking to your health care provider about taking PrEP going forward as an additional layer of HIV protection.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

Kind regards

Jim
