Title: New member POZ since 2021
Post by: Dbm12 on November 29, 2023, 06:52:26 pm
Hi I was diagnosed back in 2021 towards the end of Covid lockdown. I haven’t disclosed to anyone close to me and have little to no gay friends in my area. I was looking for some sort of group resources and found this forum. I’ve coped pretty well with my condition as I’ve stayed healthy. I’ve recently had some health issues seeming unrelated to HIV but have left me feeling pretty isolated with no one to talk to. On top of life just being hard. I’m not sure what I’m looking to find but I think having people I can really talk to will help

Welcome!

It's good to hear that you're dealing well with things. Can you tell us a little about the med(s) you're taking, and how your Viral load and cd4 counts are doing? Dealing with HIV can be isolating at times, much less around the holidays; but we've got members here who'll be glad to help with some of that and chat about living with HIV.

Hi Dbm12,

Welcome to the group and I hope the forums and posts help.  Remember to ask questions since that is how we learn.  We can always advice from our experience.

But as @leatherman said, can you give any more information on your condition?  It just helps us to understand you more but I do hope your numbers are good.  I still pay attention to my numbers but in reality as long as you are undectable that is what's key.  I go off of how I feel and that is the best indicater for me.

And sorry that you have new conditions that are appearing.  Same here with neuropathy added to my plate.  This is actually the one thing I like about being positive as we go to the doctors more and we discover things much sooner.  Just make sure to work with your doctors and make sure you ask them questions.  No question is stupid.

I’m not sure on the numbers stuff to be honest. I don’t know exactly how to read my online charts. I just know I’ve been undetectable since shortly after starting medication. I should probably be more informed but with all the things going on in my life I’m just glad I take my meds everyday. I’ve been on Descovy and tivicay since finding out.

Sorry to hear you are feeling isolated and that you have been unwell recently. Glad you found the forums, and hope it will help you feel a bit less isolated.
