Title: Sero couple - trying to conceive - feeling a little scared
Post by: kitty242 on October 16, 2015, 06:51:10 pm
My partner was diagnosed about a year ago. (I'm still negative). He's on meds with an undetectable viral load. His doc says he's doing well and he's following his treatment. The doc didn't recommend that I be on any meds to help remain negative because his viral count is so low - as long as he follows his treatment and his viral load remains low.

We've decided that we want to try to get pregnant. The doc recommended sperm washing but that's not an option for us because of the cost. I know that there are couples out there like us - who got pregnant naturally and mom and baby were both healthy and remained negative.

My question is should I go to my partners doc and request to take PrEP? Are there other things I should be doing aside from the normal pre-baby stuff? What if my doctor isn't supportive of us trying to start a family due to his health condition?

Any guidance from people who have been through this would be appreciated. I don't know who else to talk to about my concerns..... And I get a little scared sometimes.

Thanks
Kitty
