Title: I hope when I die...
Post by: Miss Philicia on April 09, 2013, 03:03:59 am
I have a stroke at the Ritz Hotel in London, and then get a $12,244,600 funeral. Aren't you in a quadruple-dip recession during which you coughed up monstrous amounts for a royal wedding, the Jubilee, and the Olympics?

But one thing is for sure -- they better not put me in a casket wearing black socks. I'd be damn upset.

Oh, and have some respect folks -- the Baroness saved the Falklands!

note: cheap Bollinger -- no champagne for Lulu!

I don't like to speak ill of the dead, but the Falklands was the only good thing she ever did during her time at #10

Politics aside, I always found something "queenish" about her.  I've always admired women who have bigger appendages than me.

Are you serious? Defending a sad crop of rocks with 2000 inhabitants that is, in essence, a vestigial mishap of colonialism? I mean what's the cost/benefit for that? Some sheep's wool in contrast to the  £3 billion spent ($4,591,710,000) in 1982 amounts. That's $10,753,212,868.46 in today's money. And that was only six years after the IMF had to bail the UK out of insolvency.

This hash tag had queens across America thinking Cher had died.

When I watched the movie The Iron Lady I just wanted to shoot the TV . I know it was just a stupid movie but I thought that if you are going to tell a story like hers do it truthfully and they did not do that .

I thought recalling events through the mind of an Alzheimer's patient was in poor taste .

Oh you know they've already got templates mocked up and ready to go at a copy&paste moment's notice and crates of plain white "china".  ;D

Totally. Half the movie shows her as a decrepit woman who has lost all her mental faculties reflecting on her glorious past- all while she was still alive!

In any case, Maggie Thatcher was besties with Ronald Raegan.  ::)

Edited to add:

I don't like to speak ill of the dead,

I read this absolutely brilliant article by Glenn Greenwald titled "Margaret Thatcher and misapplied death etiquette" as to why "the dictate that one 'not speak ill of the dead' is (at best) appropriate for private individuals, not influential public figures"

What's $10 trillion divided by 2,841 Falklands inhabitants? $3.5 million per person! Such fiscal conservatism from Baroness Thatcher!

You know, when I studied abroad at the Winchester School of Art that old bat had cut funding so much the lithography studio ran out of inks after two weeks, and we had to make ink the old fashion way by slowly grinding pigments in oil. No amount of bad PG tips and soggy cucumber sandwiches could make me enjoy that process. And what kind of people put butter on sandwiches?

Pick out a quote from this tidbit (http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2013/apr/09/margaret-thatcher-accused-racist-views) and produce a line of coffee mugs.

I see the JFK RFK plates many times a year in boot sales and thrift shops.  Usually 50 cents. Swiss made. There is a matching one of Général Guisan, General of the Swiss Army in WWII.  Also 50 cents.

So many people on ebay sites are deluded about the value of their shitty tchotkes.

People who don't want their Branston Pickle® making their bread soggy. ::)

Most thinking persons didn't need the Aussie FM to tell them the old bag was a racist - she hated on just about anyone different to her and anyone with two ears knew it.

She and Ronnie were perfect for each other. Dimness joined to unfeeling arrogance.

Saving the Falklands was as fake a distraction as that weapons of mass destruction ruse. What was very real was the Brit sinking of an Argentine warship with almost 2,000 sailors on board. All those young lives thrown away with lamebrain Prince Charles leading the charge. Uh, which way is the front?

So friggin' disgusting.

The Baroness got the movie she deserved. It was so dull I never made it through the whole thing. Kinda  a travesty for Meryl to cop an Oscar for that one. Some peeps can brighten the world by leaving it. Now all the talking heads can yap on about her and trot out every cliche. Ugh.

That Peewee plate is fine!

Commemorative tchotchkes that might interest me:

Fabulously horrific plastic surgery:
(Jocelyn Wilderstein, Priscilla Presley, etc.)

Legendary Cocks of Porn  (NSFW)

Dictators' Wives
(Madame Mao, Imelda, Chantal Biya, Farah Diba, etc)

The Supermodels
(each plate a cheese-ass montage of iconic images from the model's career)

Bitches from the History of Cinema
(Veda Piece - Mildred Piece's daughter, Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes, Blanche Hudson, Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction....)

My mom had some of those Norman Rockwell Scenes plates, I say some more like 50. None were really worth anything though.

I like Norman Rockwell.  Its both kitsch and really fine illustration. A series of Norman Rockwell plates on my wall in Switzerland would entertain many a stoner, I'm sure.

I actually wouldn't mind a 3 Stooges Commemorative plate. The original Stooges though, not the stooges with that replacement Shemp.
