Extremely worried and scared
« on: January 27, 2007, 04:23:02 pm »
6 weeks I had sex with a sex worker in frankfurt, I wore a condom and there was no obvious tears, or breaks. Now I know that because I wore a condom there shouldn't be any risk at all. But, to complecate this matter a month proir to the exposure I had hernia surgury. One week after the exposure I had a test done and it came back "dirty" with increased white blood cells and other organisms... negetive for clamytia and gonnarhea... at that point they gave me every antibiotic they could. Yesterday I had a HIV test done but I wont know the results for a while... like a few weeks. The only symptoms I have are pain at lymph node area head and armpits and darking around eyes mainly a bruising appearnce near the nose, I understand that can be from lack of sleep. I guess my main question is can lymph node pain and all this be caused by stress or am I having real symptoms...please help me, anyone else have this same issue and been ok???

any ideas I'm going outa my mind

Medic, you never needed to test for HIV in relation to this incident. You wore a condom which is exactly what you need to do everytime you have intercourse. (No exceptions!)
Condoms provide very effective protection against HIV transmission regardless of whether you are with a sex worker or a civilian.

Whatever caused your symptoms has nothing to do with HIV. If they persist you need to discuss them with your doctor(s).

That you tested negative is no surprise. You weren't at risk. Really.

Take a breath, no kidding. This is NOT an HIV situation.

Lymph nodes can become swollen for all sorts of reasons. It is absolutely not an HIV-specific symptom. Really.
