poz and optimistic pinoy
« on: January 31, 2012, 07:57:00 am »
I found out last week. Though I would have wanted a better diagnosis, just knowing my status was relieving. It's harder to have to worry everyday whether you're poz or not. When they told me I was surprised I didn't cry. But yes I did cry when I got home. I cried for 3 days but on the 4th day I was ok already. My condition has little impact on my life. I'm still efficient with my job. I've told my bestfriend and he's more devastated than me. The only thing that's irritating is the rashes but they come and go and are easily relieved with anti-histamines. The good thing this has made me is that I've become more health conscious. That's all. Hope to meet new friends here. :D

Welcome to the forums.  I'm glad you've avoided the pitfalls of a recent diagnosis that so many struggle with.  Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Are you under the care of a doctor yet?  Rashes are not something to be taken lightly as they MIGHT be a symptom of some other issue.

Best wishes and take care.

Thank you for your response.

The doctor said my urticaria is a common symptom of the disease.

Jules,

I had rashes in the early days, it transpired they were actually related to the stress of the diagnosis (the onset was at the same time), although I didn't have the ususal stress symptoms and managed to get rid of them after being prescribed a topical steroid for short term use. Most rashes will clear and even if they were around before diagnosis you Dr will be able to help you manage them.

Good luck with your journey.
