People hello! I have such a story: I had sex with HIV+ guy for one month. I didnt know he has got HIV as he lied me about it. After 3.5 months after the last sex i made test and it was "-" and then living in fear i made test after 6 months and they said that i have not negative and not positive resalt and that they have to check it through laboratory. Next day when i called them they said that have sent my blood to another laboratory...oh god i dont know what to do??? Can i become HIV+ after i have received HIV- after 3.5 months. Everywhere is written that 3 months is enough for HIV to be found .....please talk to me!!!I dont know what to do.... ??? :'(

Jane,

You posted your question in another person's thread - that is thread hijacking so I removed it and placed it in its own thread. Please keep all of your additional questions or comments here, in your own thread. Thanks.

It is totally possible to be exposed to hiv yet not infected. Your 3.5 month test is conclusive.

The six month test you had is what is termed "inconclusive" and it is most likely an error. This result will be checked with what is called a Western Blot.

Please read through the Welcome Thread and check out the links to the two lessons that are listed there. Please also take note of the posting guidelines that appear in the Welcome thread.

It is very unlikely that your second result is anything other than an error. These things happen sometimes and that is why there are checks in place to determine what is going on in these kinds of situations.

I can understand that this is very upsetting for you, but your 3.5 month test result is conclusive. You are hiv negative.

Hello Ann

I have got one more question. This HIV+ guy with whom i was in relations dont accept that he is positive. So he has HIV for more than 6 years and dont take any meds. Someone said that if HIV+ person takes meds he has almost no virus in spam and what about my situation then? Is it true? So please tell me: am i still at risk then to have positive result tomorrow???? ??? :'(

Have you seen his paper work, that he is indeed positive? Once you are positive you ALWAYS, contain the virus in your blood or tissue. I suspect you are talking viral load. Even if he has an undetectable VL he can still pass the infection. Make sure that you use condoms ALL time to keep yourself safe.

Is it possible? Not after a 3.5 month conclusive negative result.

Jane,

As long as you have not been having unprotected intercourse WITH ANYONE after your experiences with the hiv positive man, you can rely on your 3.5 month negative result. If you've been having unprotected intercourse with other men in the meantime, then we might be looking at a very different outcome here.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.

If you haven't had unprotected intercourse with anyone else since your 3.5 month test, then you ARE hiv negative.

Dear Ann

I have NEVER been into risky relationships with anyone. Now i have my bf and trust him. Since that test after 3.5 months no risky sex....
I am sorry for bothering you much but i still cant understand how i could get indetermined HIV result...what could be the reason??? May be that i had period when i had been testing??? I feel good...has no symptoms...no pain and etc...
What can cause indetermined result after negative one?

Jane, I hope that means you either have been using condoms with this new boyfriend, or he has tested negative. If he hasn't tested, then you cannot possibly know his hiv status.

There are many, many things that can cause indeterminate results. The tests are very sensitive.

Jane,

It sounds like there's not much you CAN do until the results are in on Monday. I suggest you stay busy with other things over the weekend and stay off hiv internet sites. No amount of hand-wringing will affect your result, so don't bother doing it. Put your mind onto other things and it will be Monday before you know it.

As I said before, if you've been using condoms since your last negative test, there really is no reason to think you are anything other than hiv negative.

Hang in there...

Since my last post i have been passing tests again and again now at last they sent my blood for the last confirmation test that is Western Blot...When i ask doctor please tell me if i all this time have positive results or negative she answers me that dont know as i guess not true... :-[

I have my last hope to receive negative Western Blot....but i am some kinda depressed and already losing my last hope to be HIV-... :'(

I was at a great risk you know that and to be HIV- in my case seems to be impossible now...I dont know may be my case of getting "-" result after 3.5 months after the last sex and then "+" result after 2.5 months more will be something new on this forum ...but all these tests i took and days of cry rivers i spent leading me to the worst thing i could hear in my life... :-\

Ann,
If my Western Blot will be negative it means i will be negative or they will test me again???
Please tell me if i still have little chance to be HIV negative or it is obviouse that i am positive??? ???

Jane,

If the Western Blot is negative, then you are negative. I'm still expecting you to continue testing negative.

Can you tell me how many chances i have to be HIV- as a specialist??? ???

I cant find no other reason why test gives positive or indeterminate result so that they sent my blood for Western Blot. I have no other deseases, i had skin desease a month before the test and was taking antibiotics... :-\ but all gone away long ago...

So I guess i have to move out from "Am I infected?" to "I just tested poz". :'(.My western Blot came out positive. Can it be a mistake due to my country is still low developed in HIV issues or i shouldnt lie to myself and accept my diagnosis? I plan to go abroad and test again. Do u think my result may come out negative?

Sorry Jane, I don't buy your story period. 3.5 month negative and you said you didn't have any other risky exposures. Your story doesn't fit.

RapidRod,

I swear that i had my last risky sex in the end of March and got tested in the beginning on July and it was negative. After that i never met that person again and hope i will never do.
I called Moscow Russia and they said my result is conclusive i post here and you confirmed but one thing made me go to test again is that some people get tested positive only after 6 months due to their immunity. I knew that i was at a great risk and had unprotected sex that is why i went for test again just for peace of mind and after several testings they said i am positive yesterday. I still cant believe and i told my doctors that in US specialists confirmed my first result is conclusive but here they said that some people get positive only after one year and that it occurs sometimes.
RapidRod,
What do u think? May be its a mistake? May be it makes sense to go abroad end get tested again? Please advise me smth please?

Hey People over there?

Why nobody want to reply me? RapidRod you probably think i am lieing and its impossible to be tested negative after 3.5 months and then positive later after 6 months but i guess it happened. All i want to know is may it be the mistake as i am not from US or Europe and specialists here are not so competent. Is there any sense to retest????

Please dont ignore me as i need your help and advise. I am very confused and depressed about my situation now. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!

Jane,

Yes, it makes sense to retest. It doesn't sound as though your test was followed up and it is possible you had a false positive result. They happen.
