Unprotected sex only with ud vl?

Hi I'm Poz taking Atripla with an ud vl. I'm seeing a guy who is also poz but he has not started meds yet. I was wondering should I insist on using condoms until he is ud? Do I risk complicating my case if we have unprotected sex (multiple strains etc)?

I can only offer what Dr. Joel Gallant recently posted.  If you don't know, he is a well-known HIV doctor, researcher, etc.  I will say I've mentioned being told exactly what he says, and many disagreed.  Of course, there are other STI's, which can complicate things.  I think STI's, including hepatitis B and C, are things I would be more concerned with, over being infected with a strain that is already resistant to the meds you take.

"Superinfection is uncommon, but it can occur.  The risk is greatest if you’ve only been infected for a short time.  Being on ART probably reduces the risk of superinfection, just as PrEP prevents primary infection. However, if you were to have sex with someone whose virus was resistant to the drugs you’re taking, it’s possible that your ART regimen would no longer work. This hasn’t been well documented, but it’s a possibility that people worry about."
