Hello again, from my previous question on safety of switching to Viramune while have high CD4 and on HAART. I finally get my doctor to prescribe it and start taking VIramune for 4 days now. He said to do once a day dosage for 14 days but I heard many of you who switch don't do the full 14 days.
1.What is your experience when switching? do you do the whole 14 days lead in dosage? (once a day)
2. Worried that when I do the 14 days lead it period I can develop resistance to the drug from insufficient Viramune concentration in the blood, is this possible?

No one (to my knowledge) in this forum is an MD. Ask your doctor (or any other viramune expeerienced doc). he is paid to answer this kind of question. The start period was introduced as sudden death of patients had been observed (in very limited cases). Since this has been implemented, I think it has proven successful.
When I started Viramune (I was treatment naive), my doc insisted that I shoukd wait for 15 days AND come to a visit at 15 days sharp, with complete liver enzymes panel so that he can give the thumbs up.
Since you are UD and Drug concentration from your previous NNRTI will go down slowly, there should not be any real threat for virologic failure. Liver failure is also extremely rare.
