It's hard to see how my life will be from now on being newly diagnosed but is there any other public figure that is alive today living with this disease?

As much as it irks me to post a link to Wikipedia, I remember this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HIV-positive_people

from awhile back. Sadly this is a list of mostly people that have died, but there are some notable folks that are living like Olympic diver Greg Louganis. and Skater Rudy Galindo   
One that shocked me was Isaac Asimov. Somehow that went under my radar.

   The heavy weight boxer Tommy Morrison is also HIV positive.  He also played the bad actor beside the other bad actor named Sylvester Stallone in one of the too many Rocky movies.

I dont know.....seems a good list to me although far from complete....some names out of the past!!! Wow it was quite a read.
 I saw Michael Callen perform. He was a great singer and AIDS activist. My former partner Paul who died in 1995 was President of the Philadelphia Gay Mens Chorus and then President of the Spruce Street Singers.....I forget where I saw Michael perform but it was at a concert.  He had formed a group of singers and they performed at a concert.
Modified to add:  I Noted: Larry Kramer is ALIVE....he is like the energizer bunny...keeps on ticking.....he was the first HIV/AIDS person to recieve a major organ transplant  ( was it heart and liver?)

Well, since Larry Kramer was brought up (and, yes- still kicking!)....


I can't tell you the impact 'The Normal Heart' and 'The Destiny of Me' had on this kid.  What a punch to the gut.

i would rather know that real people live fulfilling lives with hiv.  public figures don't really have to work too hard to deal with this disease.  they have all the money and adulating groupies anyone could need.   what misery they derive from public life doesn't really stir my sympathies. 

however, i really would derkve no small amount of schadenfreude should ted stevens turn up poz, but that's just me.
