Letters of personal reference
« on: July 24, 2006, 10:10:16 pm »
Anyone have a link or maybe a copy of sample letters of reference (personal, not so uch professional) that I can use?  I need 3 letters of reference but Id rather write them and have my peeps sign them to avoid anyone saying inadvertantly the wrong thing.

Can anyone help? lol

Thanks!

i always wondered why companies sometimes ask for them.... i mean... if its soemthing they want you to provide... why would you ever submit something that would make you look bad?.... so then.. what's the point?   Unless it's just to make sure you are not an idiot who would let somebody submit a letter of reference that does anything but glow on you.

I've always wondered about that.

I'm sure you can google for some example letters too.

It IS silly...I always write all my references and have my peeps sign them.  In this case I need 3 and all personal...I can do it....its just that its very hard for me to change my style and I dont want it to be obvious that I wrote them all myself.  I also change fonts and use different paper, etc.  One reference I always make VERY articulate using big words. LOL

Its crap.

I've always wondered about that.

It does seem a bit pointless BUT I think there might be some hidden psych objectives. For example if you can present a letter from le'ts say George W Bush  :D then they can glean from that who you know (what level of society) and what "circles" you float around in. Also, the content might give them an ounce or two (or even a itty bitty fraction of an ounce) of abstract material for them to make "guesstimates" about your personal life, your persona, your ethos, etc.
