Using Ryan White/ADAP, care worker wants me to apply for ACA
« on: November 22, 2016, 02:49:48 am »
So I've been on ADAP since July when I became ineligible for my parents insurance (turned 26). I was working a paid internship, but that ended a few weeks ago and I no longer have a source income. My case worker called today to set up an appointment to enroll in Obamacare, but with no income how will I pay for that and will it affect my Ryan White/ADAP? I read somewhere that they'll pay for, but can't find much information. Can anyone please provide any insight into what's going on, is applying just a formality, etc? I live in Alabama for reference.
(Started meds)

using ADAP funds to pay the premium, ADAP can purchase ACA insurance (silver plan) for you. Not only will this method ensure that you still have prescription cover, but you'll have access to healthcare through your new insurance program. It's a win for ADAP because they pay less for your meds by covering the insurance cost, and you win because you will still have meds AND now you'll have access to other healthcare with a payer source (the ACA insurance plan)
