Title: Can you Get HIV from a sex toy
Post by: smith1234 on March 04, 2011, 10:56:47 pm

I was recently with a female sex worker who materbated me no sex.

But she did use her sex toy on my anus. There was no condom.

She never used it during the session only me! But I am sure she has used it before possibly if I'm being conservative She could have used it an hour earlier but I'm sure it would have been more.

Can I get HIV from this exposure?

Should I get tested?

If you cant get HIV from environmental surfaces how come sex toys are said to be a risk?

Is this something I should be worried about it is driving me crazy!!

Not a risk of HIV transmission.

No, there was no risk. HIV is a fragile virus. It is not transmitted from environmnetal surfaces including sex toys, food, doorknobs, utensils and any such items.

Sexually the only confirmed risks for HIV transmission are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Use condoms for those and you will be well protected.

Why do adult movies and sexual health websites and phone lines say that you should cover sex toys then?

Is this for HIV?

HIV websites warn of HIV from sextoys!

Smith,

If you're sharing sex toys (and you did not share the sex toy) it should ideally be covered with a new condom for each partner because of the other, more easily transmitted STI such as gonorrhea.

Hiv does not remain viable on the surface of a sex toy - or any other environmental surface for that matter.

You did not have a risk. If you did, we'd tell you.

Is this for real?

I had a sore throat and stomach about three weeks after the event, and no fever but also a lack of appetite.
The throat was for about three days and the sore stomach was just lower abdominal pain dull with no dihorea
Could these be ARS symptoms?

You never had a risk, so you are not having ARS.
