Changing Truvada time?
« on: August 23, 2008, 06:46:06 am »
I've been on Sustiva and Truvada for about three weeks now, and happily no intolerable side effects.  From the start I had dizziness at night, but just lately I've been occasionally flatulent, which I've read is not an uncommon side effect of Truvada.

I take it as a given that Sustiva must be taken at night, before bed, due to the dizziness factor, and should not be taken with a meal (particularly fatty foods).  Truvada's flatulence side effect can, however, be reduces by taking with a meal - again from what I have read.  So does anyone take the Truvada, say, at lunchtime, and the Sustiva at night?  Is there any downside to separating the two?

I'll ask my doctor about it next month, but until wondered if anyone had any experience with this.

Please, just call me Berners.. or Baron.

My bf takes his Sustiva at night and his Truvada in the morning, with no problems whatsoever.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

you can take the truvada at whatever time of day works best fo ryou. as long as you take consistently around this time, no problem. food, yes that will prob help with a calmer stomach

i never took mine at night, always made me feel a bit jittery so earlier in the day was better

only possible "downside" to splitting up the two is that when/if atripla becomes available where you are, you wouldn't have that choice

kate (still unsure which hiv meds would match her playlist)
