Hi Jim,

Sorry to trouble you.
Today I went for pedicure. The lady tried to peel my skin and accidentally peel abit deep. Immediately my toe start bleeding. I have to put plaster.
Is it consider deep?
Is it a hiv risk if the tool used has other customer’s blood?
I doubt they clean the tools cuz the shop looks abit old.

Estas preocupando innecesario.

Basado en la descripción expuesta, no tuviste ningún riesgo de VIH a menos que hayas tenido otros encuentros sexuales que no hayas mencionado aquí

Esto es lo que necesita saber para evitar una infección por VIH:

Use condones para el coito anal o vaginal, de manera correcta y constante, siempre, sin excepciones. Considere comenzar la PrEP como una capa adicional de prevención del VIH en el futuro.

Tenga en cuenta que algunas prácticas sexuales que pueden ser descritas como seguras en términos de VIH podrían representar un riesgo para la transmisión de otras ITS mucho más fáciles de adquirir.

Hágase la prueba regularmente para detectar el VIH y las ITS por lo menos una vez al año y realice pruebas con más frecuencia si ocurre una relación sexual sin protección

Gracias miembros del foro por la oportunidad de recibir evaluación sobre el caso.

A fin de noviembre tuve un encuentro con una masajista, que me realizó frotamiento pene con vagina sin protección, no existió penetración. Ese día tenia una pequeña lesión por rasurarme en la zona alta de los testiculos. Quisiera saber si esta actividad y la situación son un riesgo de trasnmision? A las seis semanas aproximadamente tuve un leve dolor de garganta por dos días y los ganglios del cuello se inflamaron, recien desinflamandose lentamente a las 8+ semanas. Gracias por su tiempo.

one thing I like to ask myself sometimes is "how am I feeling"? Not how is my HIV, the meds, the depression, the stress. Just how am I feeling right now.

Personally, because I was in the hospital a few times really close to death, I've come to believe that any day that I'm NOT is a hospital is a pretty damned good day. :D Heck even if the weather is bad, the bills are past due, my car has stranded me by the side of the road (between my cars and the courier vehicles I've driven, I've been stranded 28 times after a wreck or car breakdown), or anything else has gone wrong (house fires, burglaries, etc.), simply being alive makes any day start off at least 90% good. :D Then if you're feeling pretty healthy for your age, that's gotta add another 5-7% happiness to your day.

So sometimes instead of examining your cd4s or vl or bp or sugar or whatever, simply examine how you are feeling. If you're feeling good, then go with that feeling. Anybody here who has lived with HIV 30 or 40 years will tell you that a positive attitude will carry you through a lot more years that worrying if you vl is 50 or undetectable, or if your cd4s are 500 or more. ;) :D

The only caveat to being able to keep this kind of happiness is to live your life and, of course, adhere to your daily meds.

"most" is not "all". Getting to an undetectable VL is not a race and is very individualized. It's based on how high your viral load was, how long you've been on meds, and most especially your own individual genetics. Most people reach undetectable in the first year....but not everyone. And some people never reach undetectable.

However, I should point out here that "undetectable" is not really the basis you should need to worry about. The actual scientific definition of "successful treatment with a suppressed viral load" is actually not undetectable but anything less than 200. (a goal that you have clearly reached).

There are quite a number of personal stories here about this issue. For example, it took me 15 years to reach and stay undetectable (it also took that same amount of time to reach and stay above 200 cd4s). We also have several members who have never reached undetectable but have certainly been in that <200 range since they have been quite healthy for well over a decade or two.

Just keep taking your meds daily, and don't stress on this issue. With a VL of 75 you'll clearly getting closer to undetectable, it's just taking a little longer for you.

Thanks Jim.   I only heard back from the lab on the medical reports for immigration today.   They need to have my specialist provide a form with progrnisis before they can submit back to complete the application processing.

I did find out my viral load in the test they took was 75.  I do have a question:  most of what i read says BL should be undetectable within 3-6 months of treatment.   I am now  on 9 months and my VL is still detectable.   How concerned should i be?  Is this considered low level viremia?   I read on ibase that in rare cases people remain with detectable levels after 6 months or even a year.   I am strongly adherent and havent missed a day of taking triumeq.     Appreciate any feedback or reference to other articles/studies on this?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued proposed guidance Friday to ease restrictions on blood donations by men who have sex with men.

The change is expected to take effect after a public comment period.

The restrictions on donating blood date back to the early days of the AIDS epidemic and were designed to protect the blood supply from HIV. Originally, gay and bisexual men were completely prohibited from donating blood. Over time, the FDA relaxed the lifetime ban, but still kept in place some limits.

Under the current policy — last updated in 2020 — men who have sex with men can donate blood if they haven't had sexual contact with other men for three months.

                       ojo.              Hi all!…living with hiv is not just to be disciplined by taking your meds and keeping your ID doctors visists, it’s also keep living with everyday problems like work, illnesses, family members and friends passing, etc., dfc.


Unfortunately, a few days ago, my aister got terrible news, she was diagnosed with breast cancer (ILC), so bad that she got to go through the removal of both breast. After that, the oncologist will decides if my sister will need quimio or radio therapy or both…she is a strong woman but I can’t say the same about her husband, we’ll see what happens, i will keep you pisted.


Mow about me, I will have to get my good eye stiched up, couple of stitches, to close a little bit my eyelids so I don’t lose so often my special contact lens (cornea), and now that I’m seeing the plastic surgeon, I will talk to him about removing my blind eye once and for all, I guess it’s time to get rid of the pain that I’ve been living for a long time due to the blind eye…wish us luck and I will keep you pisted…hugs
