My scores didnt't come back nethier negative or postive, but indeterminate.Could someone please give a quick/ or indept to what this is.Are my odds good of coming back negative after retest.Much thanks
-
What was your risk?
-
Apollo,
Going by your thread in the old forum (http://www.aidsmeds.com/Fusetalk/messageview.cfm?catid=4&threadid=31064&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE=), you were worried about being infected with a lancet?
An indeterminate means just that - indeterminate. It will be checked with further testing, but if being stuck by a lancet is all that you are worried about, you are sure to get a negative result. Sometimes hiv tests come back with indeterminate results and it's not really anything to worry about.

Yeah, but you guys said i was paranoid and everything and when i got my results it came back not negative or postive but indeterminate. Why didnt it come back negative.Whats the odds of me being negative after indeterminate scores.
Could the Virus survive in the lancet
-
Apollo,
The chances of you getting a negative result after that unfortunate indeterminate result is excellent, considering you didn't have a risk of infection in the first place.
You should have discussed all this where you had the test done. Did they re-do the test when they gave you the indeterminate result?

Yeah they re-did it.
1.Why did it come out indetermminate
2.If the virus was on the lancet how long could it have lived
3.Please answer these two questions for me.Then ill live you along. Thanks i know im a little crazy, but never hurts to be safe.

Also this is 1 and a half mark. How good will it be
-
tests can come out indeterminate for a number of reasons.
when I had my test done, they ran it 9 times..... 8 positive and 1 indeterminate.... it was ran 9 times because of the first one being positive.... test enough times and by random occurance it will come up indeterminate.... whether you are pos or negative.... it's a statistically anomally, that is corrected by doing multiple tests
Indeterminate is not indicative of EITHER a positive or negative result... it just means the test didn't come to a conclusion.
however, none of this means anything for you since you can't be infected by a lancet... they self retract after use and cannot be used again.
-
Thanks. When they re-act does another pop out and takes a place if so i dont remember her throwing away the lancet when she drew blood from my other finger.Maybe it wasnt a lancet.

i'll make this short and simple and type in all caps
YOU DON'T EVER GET INFECTED BY TAKING AN HIV TEST.
-
Who said that.i thought i got effected by donating blood at a blood drive about 1month ago.Never by a HIV test. That would be stuip to say lol.My fear was donating blood and the woman laced me with something
-
ok... i'll type in even biggerl letters
you don't get infected by donating blood
and that's still an equally stupid thing to say... people don't get infected by taking an hiv test or donating blood. PERIOD.

Anything can happen. There are some evil people out there that lived to make me people unhappy because they are.Its pretty easy to have the hiv virus ready for someone and laced the person you dont like with the virus. All you have to do is find somebody wit the virus to get to sceme in on you.Money is the root of evill.I know i sound crazy but here me out.If you wont answer that wat will be my odds of my next results.is te 1 and a half month ok
-
Sorry i Mean 1 and a half month mark
-
I know i sound crazy
um.. yah, you do
your fears are based upon absolutely unfounded grounds.... You should seek the help of a mental heath specialist.
I am withdrawing from this conversation as this forum can no longer assist you with your OCD.

Not on planet earth, it isn't.
Hiv is a very fragile virus that doesn't remain viable and able to infect a new host when it is outside the human body for any length of time.
You were not infected by a lancet.
