Extremelly Nervious!

Hi Everyone,

First of all I would like to thank you for the amazing job you guys are doing. I would appreciate any comments on some things I have done that are keeping me really worried.

1- I was fingered, the guy who did it had pre cum spread on his fingers.
2- I performed oral sex on a guy of unknown stats having a canker sore in my lip, he never came in my mouth but my canker sore may had been in    contact with precum
3- Anal frotage with no penetration

I am a gay male who always  always  always practice safe sex (condoms and lub), but I may have been exposed to precum (anus and cankersore) and i HAVE BEEN EXTREMELLY worried. Please tell me your opinion, I have been searching for similar questions and I have learned that it was low risk.. pleas excuse me if my English is not that good.

Fingering, regardless of precum, is not a risk for hiv infection. Frottage is also not a risk for hiv infection. Giving oral is a risk in theory more than anything. You can find a link to our Transmission Lesson by reading the Welcome Thread.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

You've been doing the right thing by using condoms and lube, and I'd expect your hiv test to return with negative results. If you already have yearly or bi-yearly routine checks, then you don't need to stress out about this incident, just test when you're due.

Thank you very much for your quick response, as for my yearly check ups  I lways get a full panel check up, the last one was last December.. I would definetly get one in about one month. I try to be very responsible when it comes to be careful when having sex. And the idea of becoming infected because of that canker sore or the fingering is really driving me crazy.

Ones I was talking to a doctor and he told me that in his experience he had never seen anyone getting infected via unprotected oral sex, but searching on the internet.. specially latin american sites they say that is extremelly possible to become infected if you had a cut or something like a canker sore in your mouth and it comes in contact with infected body fluids.

Relax. I don't expect anything other than another negative test when you go next month. Your doctor sounds like an up-to-date, knowledgable man. Listen to him.

Thanks for your words, actually what concerns me the most is the canker sore episode... It wasn´t a deep  blow job I just lick him for about 10 sec. two times, I indeed tasted something salty (im sure it was precum) Im just extremelly anxious about it.

The various details you are concerned about notwithstanding, your saliva has elements which serve effectively as a natural deterrent to HIV transmission.

Like Ann I expect you to test negative.

Stay productively busy during the waiting time and it will help the time to pass more quickly than you may imagine is possible.

Your saliva acts as an effective natural inhibitor against HIV transmission.

Having a canker sore is not a crucial issue in terms causing greater risk. Although there have been a very few cases of someone giving a blowjob and becoming infected, those few have pretty much turned out to be questionably accurate. There is much more evidence through longtern studies that giving head is NOT a risk.

So no, I would not consider your incident one that requires your getting tested. In general we do recommend that anyone who's sexually active outght to have a full STD panel done at least annually.

This time I don't see any need for testing nor for further concern on your part.

You have no idea how calming your words are! Now I know that i may have a chance ,as I think I told you, I was just focusing on the worse case scenario and then to add some fears to it I read the case of a guy who belived he got infected because of precum in a blow job and mutual masturbation.... and I just rememberd that after 3 or 4 weeks after the exposure I had a severe sore trought... anyway.

OK, so just get busy in the meantime. When you test I expect you to get a negative result.

Today in the early momrning went to get my test done, Waiting 4 weeks seemed too much, I just got my results and they came back Negative.

1- February-.Oral Sex plus canker sore
2- September-. Sex with condom and lub (twice, diferent partners)
3- 6 weeks ago- Fingered with precum

Im being tested again in 3 more months, what do you think?
