Hot HOT water -- does it help with HIV  ---- What is your experience? ------

I have been told by some long term non progressors and such that hot hot showers on the lymph node area helps to get the lymph fluids moving (lymph system has no pump like heart for blood so anything that gets the fluid moving may help, for example the impact of running, moves the fluids around)  the hot bath or jacuzzi or hot showers on neck, or neck node massage (one guy living 22 years showed me how to do that)

the HIV virus does not kill infected cd4 cells, it kills by a homing signal that causes healthy cd4 cells to home, to move back to the nodes (because the body thinks the battle is over and the infection is over on a daily basis, then more new hiv virus is produced in reseviour so then the immune system re activates to fight)  mean while the  cd4 cells that are not infected get  back to the nodes, and a protein signal (perhaps created by hiv, science not sure yet)  tells these healthy cd4s to self distruct called cell death or apoptosis  ... that is what is killing the cd4 cells, the ones dying are not the ones infected by hiv as taught in the over simplified hiv classes we learn...

anyway

the theory is that anything that helps keep cd4 healthy ones out of the nodes helps with health because, one

the hiv is ten times or twenty times more likely to infect in node than in blood, it is harder for it to attach probably in blood cause moving and tumbling around, like a water river thing at water spash place

also because that is where the homing signal protein and cd4 cells meet and cd4 cell told to apoptosis

any way

how does hot water showers

jaccuzzis etc effect your hiv health (even running or jumping on trampoline or such hot baths, steam rooms, sauna rooms or  natural hot mineral springs...  etc

please post your comments...

I can't say it does or does not.  I have had AIDS since 1989 and take two to three showers a day and have always done so.  Just can't stand going to sleep with "day funk".

However, I have AIDS and a T count of 900, 47% and undetectable VL.  Is that due to a hot shower...I don't think so.  I does make me feel relaxed and the lack of stress is a plus.

Maybe someone else has some facts to back your theory.

Good luck.

I don't know about that stuff. But, hot baths have always been a ritual for me. I like to take the water, as hot as possible. I've always been that way. That daily hot 40 minute bath, is something I don't miss out on. It stimilates and energizes/relaxes me. Soothes away the minor aches....

I assume you are asking LTNP's this question.  My answer is that I have no experience that diet, baths or such as that has any affect on HIV.

Cristy's got it right, as far as I'm concerned.  I 'inherited' a hot tub (outdoor type) about 10 years ago and try to use it a few nights a week.  If I do that, I don't have any of those joint or muscle pains that come from too much activity and stress.  I think 105-107° water and a beer or glass of wine will relax just about anybody.  Anybody wanna join me?   ;)

I have heard that it helps with viral levels, but I'm not sure if that idea is from back when heating blood to kill the virus.
