First Numbers and a question...
« on: May 09, 2007, 04:11:22 pm »
Hi everybody... guess what... after two months i have my first CD4 done.. (finally)

494  ;D not bad huh?

I am also glad i have no STD and all that, everything clean except for three things... that are leading me to post following questions...

I appear as Hepatitis B positive, but Dr told me it is because i took the vaccine against it in 2004. is it ok?

Dr also had requested Hepatitis C and Western Blot test, but the answer she recieved is "Another blood sample is needed". So i wonder what does it mean?

After first diagnosis, i took IFI test that confirmed i am positive, and now i don't understand what happened with the Western Blot plus Hepatitis C. Dr didn't order me to do the tests again... cause she assumes i have nothing... i wonder how safe or accurate would be to assume that someone with my CD4 and no symptoms (just rashes and sweats) can be hepatitis c free..... any advice?

Hi,

if you were vaccinated then you will appear reactive to HEP-B tests, it's good and normal.

If they request another blood sample, they didn't take enough when they took your blood, or the blood sample was contaminated in some way (not air tight or problem with the lab).

Your CD4 is good :) I understand that they do not take VL, so you will have to work on that unique number. I guess that given the price of the tests where you live, and with the positive test, and with the good CD4 value, the doctor didn't feel that it was necessary to drill down further.

Good numbers!  I don't know enough about Hep C to advise one way or the other.  But if your doctor isn't real worried about your viral load, I wouldn't be either.  It's probably pretty good or you'd be sick.  Good job! :-*
