Since I'm going to ask about anal issues you might want to ask the children to leave the room ... I thought about a week ago I was having a hemorroid issue. I am a vegetarian who would get minor flare-up when eating too much cheese [Or raisons] and would modify my diet appropriately. This time the discomfort is mild but persists and has totally inhibited any desire for sex. I GOOGLED hemorroids and read a companion article on anal fissures, which noted - with some comfort that I am not crazy - that these are common with people with HIV. Is this true?? What is not a problem noted with hemorroids or anal fissures is that I have not had any blood whatsoever emitted. Just old fashioned pain.
What can I do short of/until seeing a doctor? Are there any alternative remedies? Will I ever have sex again?

Having lived through a fistula repair three years ago after about five years of blissful disregard for the problem, I can assure you that after recovery you'll be able to bottom again or lay back and let a bottom ride. If this is what's ailing you, no natural remedies are going to help. You should see a doctor as the pain could be from other issues like herpes or HPV gone wild.

If it's indeed hemorroid, warm water sit bath should help, before you see the doc

If you are sexually active in the anal area and having issues you definitely need to talk to your doctor. Plus you have HIV and your numbers aren't that high. Why would you even question the need to talk to a doctor with such an issue immediately? It could be a variety of things and nobody here is going to be able to say what it is or is not, hence they can't tell you what to do or not to do.

Had one before hiv+ back in 1998, and the repair was 99.9999999% less painful than before the repair,
which for me was worse than the worse tooth ache you can imagine.
Or worse than kidney stones, and stones are terrible.
Fissures do not heal on their own. They can get better, then back to worse, but never heal on their own.
I don’t think or believe they happen more often in hiv people, than the general public.
Women often get them after child birth.
And once repaired, they seldom or rarely will re-occur, thats the good news.
The bad news...
Finding the right doctor and getting diagnosed correctly can be a real nightmare.
For me, it took 8 months seeing several doctors and lots of tests until I stumbled
across this old doctor that knew his stuff and after a 10 min visual exam, knew right away
what the problem was.
He told me about the surgery and recovery, and everything he said happened exactly as he stated it would.
An awsome doctor!
All the other doctors right off the bat thought some cancer involved and did the typical tests, and found no cancel, and thus said welp... good luck. Bye. Pay the bill on the way out.
Or... they wanted to do "explorative" surgery to "try" to determine what the problem was. Something I would not agree to.
I had the scope thing by one doctor (quack #1) , and something called a barium enema proceedure by another doctor (quack #2) and they still could not find nothing,
except to eleminate any cancer.
THen, this old doctor I stumbled opon figured out right away the problem, after 8 months of pain hell, he did an out patient surgery and I was 100% better within 24 hours.
Just like an old fashion miracle, I was healed!!!
If you found a doctor that knows the problem, then let him/her do the repair. That is, if its a fissure. They can get so much worse, so don’t put it off.
