latest cd4 count-need some help

 I had cd4 of 725 and 720 in march and september, 2006. I went for latest round of cd4 on 26th march and that day  i was feeling not well. infact in the evening of 26 th march , i got viral fever along with throat infection, eye flu. when I collected the test result after 3 days the count had dropped significantly to 425. It has really worried me. I would like to ask our learned fellow member that what could be reason of this drop as I was not feeling bad , or it this drop could be due to flu or viral which is very prevalent in India due to change in weather.  my doctor says such drop does occur due to viral and wants me to reapeat the test in 10 days time when I am fit and feel healthy. please help with me advice and guidance.

Absolute CD4 counts tend to bounce around and are not always the best indicator of disease progression. 425 is a pretty respectable count for a poz bod.

Understanding blood test results for HIVers is more about observing trends over time and the CD4 percentage is a much better indicator of what might be going on, especially if it's paired with VL counts.

Do you know your CD4 percentage?

When you hav a cold or flu, is not the best time to have your cd4 count done. Your percentage is more significant, this can also fluctuate. Like my man Matty said, a cd4 count in the 400 is nothin' to shake a stick at.

MtD speaks the truth from "down under" a place he is very much an expert.  Taking a CD4/VL test on or after an illness will most likely produce inaccurate  results.  Give yourself and your body some rest and then have a second test.  I am sure the next results will be good!

I  just wanted to inform the latest results after i had done the repeat test. The CD 4 no has gone up to now 850 and the cd4% is alomst 32. So I am happy with othe outcome . however the livers enzymes are little elevated with ALT 35 and AST 64 against normal range of 35 each . simlarly the trigylicides are elevated at 201 against 160. the cholostral level is high esp the LDL and the HDL on border level.
Thus hiv makes you lil unhappy on some or other account . Anyway I think I will have to do some breathing exercises and fitness activity at enhanced level to control lipid level. I just thought of saying and conveying my regards to all forum members along wid update about my hiv battle.
