Title: Day 7 on Atripla
Post by: Hzandi on January 07, 2013, 02:25:14 pm
Hey Guys!

Happy New year!

Hope everyone is doing great and started this year on a good note....  ;)

Well I started it on a "good pill" that will definitely help me see many many more... After a lot of research about Atripla I must say I was terrified but I couldn't even get to a point where I had to weigh my options.... cause starting on my meds was the only best option I have..

Was expecting so much but a lil happened.... The first 3 days were filled with a lot of vivid weird dreams.. which I found to be very funny but I had all the time to entertain them as I was not worried about going to work the following day.... I must say starting my meds a couple of days before going back to the land of slavery was the best decision ever... Besides the dreams which have stopped .. for now... I haven't experienced any side effects really... And I am very glad... I have my last meal at 6Pm and take my meds at 10:30PM.

I have started exercising and a healthy diet.

I have realised that most people complain about weight gain when taking Atripla...  seeing that I have had weight issues for most of my adult life and have been trying to deal with it before starting with my meds... I must say.. I will have to live with the weight I have currently.. obviously maintaining.. It would be great if I can shed a few.. healthily without sickness... But really its not like I'm obese or anything.

I know that most people have had the rash towards the end of week one or two.. well I'm praying that I don't since the 1st 4 weeks of work are going to be hectic and cannot afford to be going to meetings with "unexplained" sicknesses..

On a lighter note.. I really see myself leading a much more healthier life than I did before testing positive

All in all.. I just wanted to give you guys an update and to let you know that I'm alive and well and will be for a long time... :-)

Welcome,  I remember my first day.. I just dropped the meds, truvada, sustiva back then.  I called a friend from work and told him.. i starting the meds,  next day he asked how i was and i said... well i woke up.. so it didn't kill me.... and had no problems for several years.. Now i have some issues with fat distribution but it can be just aging issues as well.

Sounds like your doing great!  Ive been on atripla for 3 yrs now.  Never had any problems other than diarrhea.   When I first started on it I was out of it & dizzy for 3 days but thats it.

Starting Atripla a few months ago, only had one vivid dream . . . how the entire cosmos fit into a vessle of love. Unfortunately, none since. And no nightmares.

Only issue I had was sleeping.  After several months of "seeing it though" and failing to fall asleep for several hours after retiring for the day, I am now tripping on the wings of a butterfly, Lunesta.  Did the trick.

ive been on it since may of 2012, the first few days it knocked me out  cold after taking it, i had the vivid dreams, thankfully all were pleasant, till a few months back i was having such terrible nightmares (to which im prone to anyway but they were worsened by the atripla) after a few meetings with a shrink i was able to resolve the underlying issues and havent had any since, but for me the hardest part is what i like to call "The Atrip-hang-over" Mornings are a Beast, i just have the hardest time getting myself up and out of bed, like i could just sleep all day if i could

I've been on Atripla for almost 5 years now. Other than some side effects for the first few weeks its been great. CD4 went from 511 to over 122 and Vl went from 47000 to consistently undetectable.
I have no vivid dreams, no morning hangover and can even take it with a meal. It has a long halflife so it is forgiving as far as missing your dose by a few hours.
My doc thinks its still the "gold standard"
Good Luck!
