Laser Surgery for Anal Warts
« on: January 11, 2008, 11:28:48 pm »
I had the highly embarrassing and uncomfortable experience of having some anal warts removed after years of denial and shame really.  I was just too embarrassed to talk about these with my doctor.  I had a pretty small one for a long time and I suspected it was an anal wart, but a year or so ago when I finally asked a doc to look he was like I dunno what it is and referred me to someone else.  Then I got another one and it was obvious that it was indeed anal warts so I asked another doc to loo at them bc she said they could easily burn them off in the office, but when she looked she said there were some on the inside so i'd need to see a specialist.
The colorectal surgeon was actually pretty polite when I first met him and gave me a thorough examination, but my insurance sends us to a teaching hospital so I think they take every opportunity to educate the interns or residents or whatever on things, but when I went in for my surgery the surgeon couldn't remember who I was and what I was there for (and actually came up to me and said you're here for warts, right?) and then was joking with the anestheseilogist and the other surgeon who was there to help if they were excited yet and then started talking about how there was always danger and he'd try to be safe and I could hear everything they said, and I just wanted to die!  It was so embarrassing, but the anestheseilogist was a lady and didn' tlaugh and gave me a lot of something to make me totally stoned while they did the surgery.  They did a pretty thorough job although the procedure was different than what the surgeon told me would happen!  He said they'd cut them off (he himself said they were pretty small and there were only a few) and then burn the bottom of the wart with acid, but when I had surgery he just lasered them off!
And he didn't speak to me after the surgery and only wrote on my discharge papers "don't have sex per rectum for 2 weeks".  So i dont know how to care for the wound.  It didn't hurt at all but now I'm having a lot of discomfort after I use the bathroom which I've only done once each day since the surgery on Weds. evening.  It is very pink and it looks like he lasered all over, not just wehre the warts were.  I want it to heal properly and not get infected.  How should I care for the wound?  Also, I am a bottom and I want it to heal and look smooth and not have any scars or be too red, so does anyone have any advice for me?
I am taking vicodin now so please excuse any errors in grammar or confusing phrases.  Thanks guys!

Hi Nick

The only thing I can reccommend that will help you feel more comfortable is to sit in a bath of warm water for about 15/20 minutes, on a daily basis if possible , if not then at least 3 times a week...also try cleaning the area with warm water and gently wipe the anal area after you have had a bowel movement...you can use 'baby wipes" they will clean you better than toilet paper...and are not as harsh.

Sorry I have no other advise for you.

Hugs
Jan

antibiotic ointment helps too. be sure to change the bandages daily. when i had my procedure they cauterized the warts off, lubed me up good with antibiotic ointment, and sent me home with some antibiotics. it wasn't terribly painful, but i was afraid to shit for like a week. i also had a loose bandage that was taped to my ass. it was kinda like a male maxipad and it kept the goo from going everywhere. my doc only removed the external warts.  i went to an gastroenterologist (?) to exam my colon/rectum afterwards. i was so fucked on the dope they gave me i don't remember a damn thing he said. the paperwork he gave me said "normal." really, thanks doc, thats so fucking enlightening.

but the dude who zapped my ass was hella cool. the ointment was soothing. hope this helps. damn, we should start a club, like ass of fire or something.

Ok, well, I will step up since we are confessing things. And I got something going on in my backyard. I figure they are roids, can those be burned off too? I feel like Nick and too embarassed to really mention it to my doc. They itch like hell after I take movement or at really inconvient times. Go figure, when I am cool with a Pap smear... :o But then my gyn is gay so I know he has no interest in my twat. But to me the ass is a whole 'nother area which I only use for one thing, not to say I haven't tried the other... ;)

Your Majesty,

Most likely it is the piles, but it might be a good idea to be checked for warts and herpes too. It's always fun to make your doctor delve into the poop-chute. :)

Ja, piles are a common condition following pregnancy. There are a number of ways of dealing with them. If they're not too bad, good ol' Preparation H will do nicely.

If they itch and bleed a lot they could be thrombosed (ie blood clots form in them) these can be dealt with surgically.

My good ol' dad used to get these all the time.  He had a couple of surgeries for them.  One actually got a clot in it the size of a golf ball.  They ended up removing that side of the hemeroidal (?) blood vessel.  A proctectomy in 1991 saved me from ever having 'roids. ;D

I will tell you what I have done. I have purchased Hydrogen Peroxide ( you can get it at any drug store ). I have used it full strength ( from the bottle) or you can cut it 50/50 ( with filtered water).  Put the mix in a spray bottle and position yourself, where you can spray it on the affected areas. I found it cooling. After spraying, let the solution sit on the affected area, and only "Pat dry" with something clean and sterile. Do this several times a day.

Once again...This is what I have done, and it works for me.

Take care----Ray

Since others are confessing, here I go.

I had anal warts for quite awhile and was ashamed as well.  Finally got up the nerve to have the doc look at the and he referred me to a specialist.  The specialist told me that I needed them removed right away and that they looked cancerous.  So I went in for the surgery, thank god for the valum and darvocet, knocked my ass for a loop.  I remember going into the operating room and told the nurse I didn't feel good and was about ready to chicken out, next thing I know I woke up and was hooked up to morphine.  My warts had gone internal.  I didn't have the laser surgery, they cut the bastards out.  Doc was really nice about the whole thing and explained that they had to take out more than they thought so that's why I had the morphine.

Louie was recovering from a staph infection in his hip bone so I said "I do not want morphine, I want to go home, I have to take care of Louie and Princess (our dog)."  the nurse kept putting the button in my hand and said if you are in pain, push the button.  I let go and said NO, I want to go home.  I'm a stuborn buggar to say the least.  After 5 hours in a private recovery room, and no morphine, they sent me home with some great pain killers.  Don't remember what they were but I was out of it for a few days.

They had me pretty well packed and I was told what to do.  I had to use a sitz bath a few times a day with warm water, every day.  Of course during all this I had to take metamucil to keep my stools soft, OH MY GAUD that first bowl movement was pure hell.  Went in the following week for a followup (which I did every few weeks).  At the first followup I was told that he wanted to do another surgery to make sure they had all the cancer out.  They were pre-cancerous.  I was out of work for 2 weeks.  So, after a few months of healing I had the second surgery.  All was well, they got rid of everything the first time.  So the second surgery just made my butt a little tighter, I'm still cancer free and wart free after almost 5 years, YEAH!!!!!

Unfortunately Louie's been so sick this whole time, I haven't had the opportunity to bottom.  I pitty the poor guy who tries to enter there,  Since I was mostly a top before, I was always tight, now I'm even tighter  LOL

Oh well.

Anyway, do a warm sitz bath daily to help keep you clean and unfortunately you should wait at least a month or 2 before engaging in anal sex, this way you are sure to have healed properly.  You don't want to get any tears and prolong the healing.

Just my opinion.

by the way it was interesting to say the least visiting my surgeon.  When ever he did a rectal exam on me, he always had a nurse in the room with him, even though Louie was there.  The only uncomfortable part about the whole thng was that it was a female nurse, besides doc was HOT!!!  So the anal prob was kind of interesting  LOL

My HIV doc is gay and it's fun to see the look on his face when I ask him to check me for anal warts to see if anything is coming back.  And with me being uncut, it's even more interesting when, on occassion I ask him to check out my penis if I have a rash or anything, it's almost like he's afraid of the size of me  ROFLMAO  he must be a bottom.

OH my I'm in rare form!  But it is fun to see the looks on their faces when we ask them to check out areas below the waist.

Hey guys,
Thanks for everyone's comments.  turns out I was off base about the treatment.  I looked at my discharge paper and it said EuA, Fulguration, so I guess he zapped them with electric current.
I've got a really bad cold and keep feeling like I've got to cough and when I do, it makes my ass hurt!  I don't feel a lot of pain or discomfort until I use the bathroom.  Cold I get hemorrhoids or fissures from this as a complication.
God I wish I wasn't sick.  I feel so lousy and classes resume tomorrow and I was so excited about school starting back but defintiely am not now!
I just hope these motherfuckers don't come back.

I was told to take in extra fiber like Metamucil.  It helps keep the stools softer and more regular.  It's when you get hard stools is when you strain to go and it can cause hemorhoids and fisers.  Also is your going to have anal sex, make sure they use plenty of lube as well.

I once hit the trifecta and had a massive, external "grade III" hemorrhoid and copious anal warts, during the height of summer when your ass crack sweats.  Because the roid was so abnormally large, they couldn't attack the anal warts until the roid was taken care of, and by that time the little things seemed to multiply.  I endured various methods of attacking them -- freezing them off, etc. -- until they finally decided that they had to go in with the knife.  Nothing like getting stitches up in your shit chute, and they didn't give me any morphine.

I was rather anxious when it came time to get fucked again, certainly considering my propensity for rough sex with over-sized genitals, but I recall only taking 3 months to overcome this.

For those of you who had this surgery, did you get scarring?  or hyperpigmentation?  does fulguration usually heal without scarring and hyperpigmentation?

Scarring?  I don't know... don't think so.  Kind of hard to see back there.

Might be my imagination but it seemed to get more fleshy back there... like I grew a large set of labia lips.  Frankly it turned on a lot more guys.  Filthy deviants.
