***sigh***
« on: April 09, 2007, 10:03:00 pm »
I love running across somebody's myspace page that I was quite good friends with about 7 years ago and seeing that, not only is his age a lie, but he's listed himself as "bi" when in fact he's a flaming homosexual of the ~nth degree, and I should log onto AIM where he's eternally logged on and read him for filth even though I've not spoken to him now for about 3 years.

Oh, and did I mention how much he's porked up?  At least that's a sign he kicked that meth habit.

Still cute though... Cuban, etc.  Though I'll never forget that the night I was introduced to him he had rhinestones appliqued to the line cut in his fade.  Looked nice under the disco lights while I was on ecstasy though.

Yeah, I guess that's one of the earliest gay phrases I ever learned.  That and "flawless" which was used before "fierce" came along.

... Though I'll never forget that the night I was introduced to him he had rhinestones appliqued to the line cut in his fade.

What, pray tell, is a fade (besides a cinematic term and verb/adjective)?

God, philly, wouldn't the White Pages be more interesting than myspace?  Those horrid backgrounds which make the already bizarre font even more difficult to read, the nauseous songs which deafeningly assail your ears if you forget to press the mute button, the sad little lists of books ("they're so decorative"), movies, and all the rest?  And the popularity contest to gain as many friends as possible, like a stupid video game or worse, gladly accepting any random request spewed out by some boring-ass loser with nothing better to do than play the same game.  And so many groups to choose from, always taking a crap shoot that no matter how many members there supposedly are posts are made once every few months, or even though there are lots of posts the quality ("would you have sex with the person above you?") leaves a little to be desired, or the members are there to masturbate each other's egos and exclude anyone who isn't?

With my last account I stuck with Tom and only Tom.  We're friends like that.

Special Exception:  A secretive young man named "Beers for Algernon" when I first met him (I was "I'm so butch I use sandpaper to wipe my ass") who had a fantastic page.  Since he hid it from the gawking public it was an honor to be selected as his friend (being his friend was the only way to see his page).  Rumour had it he nixed his page and membership, crushing the hundreds of friends he'd made, and went on to better pursuits.  Recent whispers say he may be there yet.  One of life's inexplicable mysteries.

fade:  http://www.enteringtheartzone.com/trends.html

As far as this particular instant on myspace, the Cuban's name was merely inserted into google with a "myspace + name" search and there it was, but I have been known to explore friends listings.  But yes, one MUST have the mute button on at all times, as well as maximizing one's browser window or the style sheets are a mess.  Myspace is a coding disaster, isn't it?

Anyway, where else can I find attractive men from Syria with circuit queen bods and goatees?  I have to have some way to spend my days.  But no, I never read the text on those things... so horribly self-indulgent when I can just log onto Aidsmeds and read a long rambling piece by Bucko and Strayboy to satiate that need.

Yes, philly, you can say some things that crack me up sometimes. My fav is the recent, "Barbara, please."
I bet you are a hoot when overamped in a coffee shop booth.  :)

Yeah... recently some 20-something gay guy in NYC met me and upon hearing me carry on and on verbally stated that he thought queens like me had gone extinct.  Little did he know how close to being correct he was in my case.

Back on topic, I wonder what, if anything, is to be gained by busting him as a liar.  I see misrepresentation everywhere online.  People claim to be 10 or more years younger than they really are, or post a pic that was taken 15 years ago.   And when you finally meet them, you don’t even recognize them, or they’ve gained 30 pounds from the time they left their front door.

At first I thought they need be called on it, but then I realized that these people will not be deterred.  They want to see themselves as desirable, and they maybe even fear that others will reject them.  So they do whatever it takes to create an illusion and cling to it, even though they don't even come anywhere close to resembling that illusion in real life.

Your speaking up might make you feel better for a minute.  But the sad truth is that it will ultimately be wasted breath, and won’t make a bit of difference.  They have insecurities which trump your truth card.

EDITED TO ADD:  I do love your terminology, though.

Actually knowing him like I do he would find it enormously funny if I called him out.  He'd also try and talk me into coming down to Miami for a visit... but I'd still deny him my ass.
