Hello,
I had unprotected vaginal and oral sex with a Russian woman (not a Casual Sex Worker said). I have tested at 23.day and 41.day; they said the 4th generation VIDAS COMBO test
41. day 23. day
HIV Ab............ NEGATIVE 0.08........ NEGATIVE... 0.03.......... NEGATIVE <0.25
HIV P24 Ag......NEGATIVE 0.01........ NEGATIVE....0.00.......... NEGATIVE <0.25
Should I relax? The increasing of my HIV Ab value is dangerous indication for next test? How reliable these result? Have you seen many people turn positive the similar having combo test?

3 month post exposure test is when your results will be conclusive.

mucavu,
The vast majority of people who have actually been infected will seroconvert and test positive by six weeks with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 days. A six week negative is highly unlikely to change, but must be confirmed at the three month point. You tested negative at one day short of six weeks and I do not expect your result to change, but you do need to get that conclusive three month test. I hope you also tested for the other more easily transmitted STIs.
You need to learn from this experience. You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.
Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.
Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.
If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

I know you only suggest 3 month test for conclusive result, but I wonder is there any person testing positive after 6 week negative test with 4th gen. combo test (VIDAS). Have your ever been seen?
-
It is very uncommon to test positive after a 6 weeks negative. But it can happen. More often than not it is the receptive person in vaginal or anal intercourse who becomes infected. But as I said, it can happen.
Living with any doubt about the accuracy of your HIV status is not a good thing. Take that extra step and get tested at 13 weeks, collect what is most likely going to be a negative result and then you don't have to wonder or possibly put someone else at risk.
And in the future avoid having intercourse without a condom. As long as you consistently use condoms you are well protected and the HIV status of your partner is not something you have to be concerned about.

Thank you for your answer....
I think that I will test again at 12 week (ELIZA 4. gen.). Do you advise me PCR test (in 60 day) or another test before 12 week for conclusive result? My psicology very bad and tha waiting very difficult?
-
mucavu,
You only need to be tested at three months with an antibody test. You do NOT need PCR testing.
Your nearly six week negative result is highly unlikely to change.

Today is 48. day. And, I have flu, litlee fever and bad throat. I will be crazy........
-
Mucavu,
If you feel unwell, see a doctor. Your six week negative result is highly unlikely to change.
Sometimes - most of the time - feeling like you have flu means exactly that. You have flu.

The waiting is very diffucult until 90. day. Today is 70. day and I have test one more 4. gen. Eliza. It is negative. Have ever been seen turm positive after 70. day negative (and I have 23 and 40. day combo test)?
Thank you for your advise......
-
With that negative at 70 days days, a negative test at 12-13 weeks is pretty much a slam dunk.
You can make this waiting time go a lot easier by getting busy with other things in your life. And don't bother saying you're too worried to do that because I can tell you that response isn't going to fly here.
Right now you are just fueling your fears by focusing so obsessively on this issue. Get productively busy right now with other things.
I expect you to test negative on your final test.

I am sorry for my anxiety. I known very much people turn positive in a month. I wonder that have ever been seen any people turn positive after 70 day negative?
I am sorry Andy Velez and Ann.. Please reply me.....
-
muc,
I've never seen a six week (42 days) negative change and I absolutely do not expect a 70 day (ten week) to negative change. You need to relax and get on with your life. You were never likely to test positive.

I have done today (99 day) Eliza test again and its negative. I have 23 day and 40 day combo test, 70 day and 100 day Eliza test negative. Is it finished? I must test again later?
-
You are conclusively negative and don't need further testing.
-
Congratulations on those happy results. You're done and can move on now. Just remember to celebrate by always without exception using condoms for intercourse. Then you will be well protected against the sexual transmission of HIV.
Cheers.

Dear Andy and Ann,
I have completed my test as you known (23 and 40 combo, 70 and 100 Eliza). But, I still affair its turn pozitive. Some expert says 6 mounts. I am married and I hesitate with my wife without condom. Please, say me is it possible turn positive after my tests? Thank you for your polite concern....
-
You are HIV negative. Testing out to 6 months is a long outdated concept and only applies in situations that involve longterm intravenous drug use or a damaged immune system due to organ transplant or treatment for cancer or other severe illness.
There is no reason for you not to resume sexual relations with your wife. Stop with the unnecessary drama and get on with your life. Happily, HIV is not an issue for you.
