The number one 'feature' most appreciated was the ass by both gay men and women. I believe face was next, followed by chest (for the women) and dick (for the gay men - no surprise here). Surprisingly, the back was high on the list for women.
I've always had a decent ass, but exercising daily for over 10 years has improved it and / or kept it from disappearing. Hopefully, the meds won't screw with it too much, as it is one of my best 'features'! ;D

With the many natural gifts I've been blessed, an ass never even figured into the picture. I used to long for a cushy bubble butt, but genetics proved stronger than desire, so I've had to content myself feasting on other guy's butts. Believe me when I say that I've done enough lunges and squats to raise the Titanic, but only succeeded in making my legs bigger. I have calves like oversized eggplants and great thighs (see below).
The meds have evaporated any fat that might have overlaid the muscle, which in my case was always pretty gluteus minimus anyways. I have described my cheeks as looking like a pair of balloons found behind the sofa six months after the party ;)

lostinspace, I'd say the overwhelming majority of us that lost our butts were taking first line HIV meds in the 90's that aren't as widely used now, so hopefully you will not have to deal with this (assuming you only recently began HIV meds). But to answer your question it took me about 4 years of taking things like AZT, zerit and hydroxyurea.

I was on Combivir and DDI in many different cocktails from 1996-2003. Kaletra spiked my Cholesterol at 525 after less than a full month, which necessitated a drastic no fat/no cholesterol diet to which I was religiously faithful for about four years. I lost over 30 lbs on that retched diet.
Kaletra, as well as Viracept (or was it Viramune? I was on both) caused me insane garden-hose squirts...for years.
All this combined to make my tush (which, to repeat, was never my strongest feature) evaporate. But I gotta say that if losing one's ass is the worst side effect you ever get, you'll be damn lucky.

Regarding the part of your blog that I quoted, I can tell you that I personally dont know of anyone who takes just one pill a day, and by of anyone I mean that Im sure I have friends on this website that do, but we havent discussed their med regimen enough for me to know that. Maybe I need to get out more, but I think that your perception of treatment is incorrect, and possibly harmful.

My status says still pending, because, correct if I am wrong, if you have a high-risk exposure to someone who is positive, you don't really know untill you have your 3 month results, right? so, my 6 week result will be in mid-septmeber, and the 3 month will be end of October. Anyway, I gave a brief sypnosis of our story in my thread under "Someone I Care About Has HIV", as well as tidbits here and there. Yeah, It's hard to talk about personal relationships, and the activities that go along with them. So, ummm, just let's enjoy each other's company~?~
And Jeff, that was more a rhetorical "Hope you dont mind if I am in here" than a personal one, as I have really grown fond of some of the people I have met in here.
And as for Cindy, I love her, but I won't try to steal her. I know the value of a good fruitfly.

This is correct. Most people who test positive do so at the 6 week mark, but it can take up to 12 weeks to come back positive which is why the window period is 12-13 weeks.

Regarding the part of your blog that I quoted, I can tell you that I personally dont know of anyone who takes just one pill a day, and by of anyone I mean that Im sure I have friends on this website that do, but we havent discussed their med regimen enough for me to know that. Maybe I need to get out more, but I think that your perception of treatment is incorrect, and possibly harmful.

rest assured I posted the pictures where the lipo is LEAST apparent. If you'd like I could post more horrific ones. It all depends on the angle that the picture is taken. By my own personal standards I look like crap. I just went from working 3 jobs and caring for my partner with cancer to spending 24/7 caring for my mother who is dying from pancreatic cancer. To workout now I would need to join a gym in Asheville and hire a CNA to come in a watch mom, which given that I'm not working at all isn't happening. I'm where I need to be right now and doing what I need to do. When mom dies I'm going to take care of myself. Given age and lipoatrophy I can't look like that again but I will be fit. I may even do another bodybuilding competition.

But yes, we have had quite the thread going here for some time now - and I gotta say that I personally like this thread a bunch. It takes some of what was going on in the colossal porn thread and zeroes in on it. Namely, keeping us in touch with our fun and flirtatious sides and helping us not lose sight of our personal sense of "pretty". (That kind of thing can sometimes happen with quickness in HIV Land, ya know. :-\) And while eyeing high gloss professional models is certainly fun, I like that this thread turns the focus in on all of us here - encouraging people to put themselves out there and all. I think it's kind of empowering, and having faces with your fellow posters helps personalize things even further on here.

Ok this one is not me but it is my sweet heart Billy. I was showing him my webpage on the hivaidstribe.com website and he wanted to know why there where no pictures of him on there.
I told him he doesn't like having his picture taken so I didn't put any of his pics up. He has facial lipoatrophy and hates the way he looks in photos. He doesn't chat or go to online groups but he has been positive for about 18 or 19 years.
He gave me a packet of old photos and said I could use them and I found this gem.
He is so adorable LOL I had to share it with you.
