I don't use a cane. In fact, I don't even hold onto the railing. I'm going out for Federal Donuts & Artisinal Chicken (http://www.federaldonuts.com/main/) at noon... better than that Bojanges shit you Southerners eat.

Of course you want to shovel during the storm.  Why wait until it is 3 feet deep?  I know southerners don't understand how to deal with winter weather - but don't be questioning the wise Yankees!  We know of which we speak.

Great pics!!

While I don't miss having to do all the shoveling and clearing of snow -- I do miss the beauty and serenity that comes with a big snowstorm.

Plus --- when it snows here in Richmond, my street never sees a plow and it takes a week or more to see any sand/salt.  Yet here is your town, with close to 3 feet of snow and I see the road pavement in one pic -- less than 12 hrs after the snow stopped.  If Richmond got that much snow, we'd be shut down for a freakin' month (how's that for a good ol' RI phrase)

Yankees know how to handle the snow and get life moving again.

Great pics, Mitch, and what a lovely house.

But dude, you really need better insulation in your attic. How do I know? Because the snow is so much deeper on your porch roofs. Granted there's less pitch on the porches, but still, so much less snow on the main roof means heat is escaping.

Or is it just because that's where you're growing your pot and the grow-lights make it waaay hot in the attic? ;D

the top floor has been in need of a gutting since we moved in 17 years ago.
hmmm....
grow lights?
who would know the difference?? :)

the "official" snow tally for us according to NBC local news was 35.5"!
tonights low temp. will be 0 degrees F. :(
glad we didn't lose power. :)

early bed night.
moving a few tons of snow with windchills around 0 degrees takes it's toll.

just sayin)

I live in a mixed estate of council housing and private housing. A few years ago, the local council put insulation down in all the attics (we actually call them lofts, but it's the same difference).

Ever since then, you can really notice the difference it makes when it snows. The snow starts sticking to the council house roofs long before it sticks to the private houses, aside from a few where they've installed insulation as well.

It's made a huge difference to my winter heating bill. The money you'd have to spend on gutting your top floor and installing insulation would be recouped on your lower heating bills fairly quickly. Besides, you could feel all smug about lowering your carbon foot-print. :)

we did insulate most of the house over the years, but these projects have worn me and my wallet out!
the upstairs still has the original plaster walls and cieling, so the gutting will be expensive and messy.
it is pretty much just a bedroom and a full bath up there. the floors need leveling, needs new electric, and the bath needs a total remodel.
BIG $$$.
we keep the heat down to 50 degrees (so pipes won't burst) and just use it for storage.
for now, our insulation will be a blanket of snow. :(

I'm not even going to respond to that, I'm just going to let you revel in your 15 minutes of snow fame ::)

yes. it is called "the big green egg" and is all the rage!
it also works as a smoker.
you can heat that thing up to 1000 degrees.
i.

Green Egg? you're making that up. Clearly you are launching illegal satellites from your deck. I'm calling NASA right now.

Red wine?  So disappointed.  Should never drink red outside on a cold day.  Now go get your can of PBR. ;D

Wolfie

Just wish we could have gotten that much snow.  Did you build any forts?
well, i must confess that it was cranberry juice for the photo op. ;) (hate beer)
cold you say? huh?

build forts? not after 3 straight days of shoveling.
my 132 lb. svelt body could endure no more.

I confess also, I mix my white wine half and half with cranberry juice.  In my young gay days, a white wine spritzer was always known to bartenders.  Now I have to explain it to them.  I also like mine with raspberry juice.

132?  how short are you?  That's 10lbs lighter than me and I'll be jealous again if we're the same height.

unless.....
do you have relatives in Texas?
(they really can be pretty wimpy i hear.)

Nope. I spent my formative years in NE Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie where we got dumped on by "lake effect" snow every winter. Then I moved to NYC, then Upstate NY where they get plenty of snow too. We don't see much snow on The Rock though. I kinda miss it.

As if had any wumpy wimpy Texan blood in me. Sheesh. ::)

A cold day calls for bourbon!

Or Scotch. Whichever bottle is closer.

I'm with Ann, I'm betting you were freezing your nuts off but too scared to admit it to Will and Miss P, but a good photo all the same..  ;D

No, SSDI won't see it as wasting if you've not had a documented weight loss. Stop trying to game the system, queen.

btw, how is it that you shoveled for three days when you're disabled?

Well yeah -- you combine vodka with Kahlúa and Baileys Irish Cream. It's almost like you possess a chartreuse vagina. I guess on the plus side at least it's not mixed at a bar run by an Egyptian.

Beautiful.  I was hoping for a good snow, but the odds are running out.  If we don't get it by Valentine's Day, then we are probably not going to get it.  But, climate change may bring a surprise.

Btw, I see a Christmas card photo for next year.  Do another pic with a Santa hat and beard, but keep the fan and shorts.

i hate Baileys and it has no place in a white russian. that would be called a "mudslide".
so much for your chartreuse vagina theory.

I heard a guy from Connecticut made these sculptures, while wearing shorts and a t-shirt.  This was on the news, although they blurred it.  Hopefully this will be seen as a news item, and not me posting pornographic images.  There aren't any up close images of penises or va-jay-jays.   ::)
