Really quick and frank question about transmission
« on: July 01, 2013, 02:38:13 pm »
I am an undetectable positive female since 2008. Have been resigned  for years with the thought of being alone. I am happy and well...Recently, thanks to social media....I have reconnected with a negative male from high school. We have only engaged in kissing and I have done oral sex on him. From my own research, I felt as if these two acts were completely safe and therefore there is no need for disclosure. All of this happened a couple of weeks ago. Since we live a distance away, He told me today while talking on the phone that he is feeling really sick. He believes it is allergies. What are your thoughts???? I have also posted this on the ladies forum, yet wanted a wider view of expertise. :) I hope I have not passed this on to him through kissing and oral sex.

People catch bugs, flu, colds, allergies,   etc.  Don't worry yourself about it.

Being undetectable and doing low risk acts will seldom result in HIV. You would be one of less than a handful of documented cases of such transmission, and being undetectable you might make the history books.

Realize that anyone you hook up with might resent you for even the minimum exposure.  I'm sure some people still think you can't eat from a washed eating utensil from a person house who is poz; or people who think you can get it from a peck on the cheek.   Best to say that you had sex with a guy who told you he was poz and gauge his reaction from that.  If this works out it might be ruined by the fact that you failed to disclose.

Pray God you can cope
I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.

Saliva is NOT infectious, therefore being given a blowjob or being kissed by a person with hiv is NOT a risk for hiv infection. Regardless of VL.

Dream, the only thing you need to do in order to ensure your virus stops with you is to make sure your partner is wearing a condom before anal or vaginal intercourse occurs. It really is that simple!!!

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Livewithit: Thanks for responding. Yes, I am struggling with the resentment that may take place for not disclosing immediately. The whole time it was happening, I was thinking what I would do in his shoes....then I thought that if I waited to tell and we got to know each other again to a point of true feelings on his part that not telling may be worth the wait......but you nailed it. Thank you for the reply.
