I am just sick of it!!!
« on: September 13, 2006, 01:34:10 pm »
As a result of the 5th anniversary of 9/11 and Bush's speech to the nation, I feel compelled to speak. It's getting a bit tiresome seeing one misguided American after another with their cutsie little yellow or red-white-blue ribbons on their oversized SUVs. Yeah, I guess it's the thing to do; maybe part of that whole soccer-mom culture. Unfortunately, the only thing they demonstrate is that the person behind the wheel is a clueless, gullible, misguided, nitwit.

If foreign invaders landed on our soil, as we have done in Iraq, I would be the first one to take up arms and repel them. Albeit, in a smartly coordinated uniform! (I suppose that would make me an 'insurgent' by OUR logic.) This, and other aggressive governments have always done their utmost to make it APPEAR as if committing yourself to kill in feuds on distant shores that have nothing to do with the welfare of the citizenry is somehow patriotic.

It is not.

Enlisting in the armed forces, in the absence of a real and impending foreign threat, is no different than hiring yourself as a paid assassin . . the only difference is, you're not getting paid enough. But let's take a realistic look at exactly WHO joins up in an all-volunteer army.

The first group are those who join (during peacetime) for the benefits: to get an education, or because it seems a reasonable career path. Consider carefully! Realize that you are gambling with your humanity. Once you sign that form, you sign away your right to say: "No, that is an atrocity." You put your abilities, including the ability to kill, at the disposal of proven liars, psychopaths . . . enemies of humanity. Do you think that every German soldier in World War II who helped load Jews into cattle cars was a cold-blooded killer? Most were poor kids who got caught up in the patriotic frenzy. Once you're in, you're IN. You lose the ability to stop killing until they tell you so. This not only makes you less than human, it makes you less than an animal, for even the animals retain their freedom of self determination.

The second group are the simple minded, who fall for patriotic entreaties about defending democracy, Mom, apple pie; in other words, all the traditional government propaganda. Do you think Soviet lads subjugated their neighbors throughout the world because they thought the Soviet Union was an EVIL empire? No, they were fighting for MOM, and whatever passes for apple pie in Russia. Step back and examine the lies your government is handing you, and ask yourself if they have the ring of truth. Do you want to be one of the murderers in uniform who opened up on their fellow citizens at Kent State? When you put on that uniform, you give up all autonomy, and become nothing more than a weapon, to be used for whatever evil purposes the scoundrels in government demand (and, if you look carefully, you will discover that the only interests THEY serve are those of the big businesses that own them.)

Finally, you have the hard-core psychopaths. These are the people who WANT to kill. Murder, torture, rape; THESE are the American values upon which THIS group is focused. The cause doesn't matter, they're after the thrill that only warfare can provide.

Just remember: killing for George W. Bush, or for George H.W. Bush, or for Lyndon B. Johnson, or for Richard M. Nixon is not the same as defending yourself, your family, your friends, or your country. Don't be a dope. Don't Enlist!

Remember -- supporting the troops means supporting Bush aggression, profiteering, and war crimes. Here's an idea: why not take those ribbons, dip them in blood, and mail them to the White House?

Ninety-nine per cent of Europeans think exactly the same thing.  Still, Blair,  aka Bambi, found the support (through blatant, mischievious lies) to send British troops to "kill the insurgents" along with the Americans. Another ex-European leader, Silvio Berlusconi, aka the great mafioso, did the same. You can bet they will be punished dearly in the upcoming elections.  The mafioso is already out of office.  Romano Prodi is in power in Italy now,  and God/dess only knows  the Italians have had enough of this jerk! (The mafioso that is!)
As for Bambi, I am sure the British are sick and tired of this caniche of The Bush Administration, and will hopefully throw him out of office soon. I've never been as disappointed by any European leader as I have been with Bambi --- ever!

Who said I was looking for support??? I was looking to vent, and we are all entitled to our own opinion, as you have so eloquently demonstrated. So, thank you.  ;D

The talking point Rush and O Riley are trying to push is the formula "support the war = support the troops". Not supporting the war = you don’t support the troops. WRONG!
They try to push that idea, since so many no longer support this war that they also do not support the troops. Like we don’t know how to separate the two totally different issues.

That pink jeep got me thinking about my daughter - she wants a pink car and I'm considering buying her one of those little pink Barbie Doll cars. Just for a laugh.

But seriously, she and her long term bf briefly broke up for a few weeks over the summer. During this time, she started talking to a young lad she knew from high school - there had always been a bit of chemistry between the two of them but they never explored it due to her prior commitment.

They spent a bit of time together during the time out with her boyfriend (time outs seem to run in the family ;) ) and she came home one night and breathlessly told me how she felt she could fall in love with this lad. She told me all about him, how he's in the British Army now and will be shipping out to Afghanistan sometime before Christmas.

My heart sank.

For a start, I was shocked that she could go for a lad who was Army material. She's as anti-war as I am and for her to be interested in someone who would volunteer at a time when combat involvement is a certainty... Dunno. He must be a special lad.

And then there's the other side of it... what if something happens to him? It's obvious she still has feelings for this lad, even though she is now back together and happy with her long term fella. I don't want my daughter to suffer first hand the pain and emptiness of losing someone to this madness. I feel guilty and selfish that I feel that way, but I do. And I feel guilty and selfish that I was secretly happy they didn't get more involved than a kiss. It hurts enough just to know that countless strangers, other mothers, other lovers, are losing their loved ones every day and on both sides. I don't want it in my home, in my family, in MY daughter's heart.

I curse Bush and his lapdog Blair.

And I cry helpless tears for ALL the sons and daughters who are being crushed under the wheels of "Freedom" and "Democracy".

I'm going to have to defend my recent SUV purchase (not really, but here goes)
1-I am 6'4" tall, I do not fit comfortably in A LOT of cars.
2-I own a home that is undergoing a lot of reno-by me
     A) I need to buy LOTS of stuff from Home Depot, and get it home
     B) I live in a township that does not provide curbside trash pick-up. I pay for
weekly pick-up of household garbage, but demo materials is a whole other
thing, so I need to tow my trash hauler to the dump, 25 miles each way.
3- I work 1.3 miles from home, so I'm not using all that much fuel on a daily basis
4- due to incentives and my GM Card bonus, my decently loaded SUV only cost
$21,747! Less than most cars these days!

so there you go, make of it what you will.
