It is creepy when the power goes out at least it's daytime.
Stay safe and have some ice cream before it melts  :)

It is such an unusual occurrence, did it make land fall as a one ?

Yeah it hit land a few hours ago in the south and is making it way up over land on the coast (Galway side)

http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/hurricane-ophelia/people-currently-in-work-should-stay-where-they-are-taoiseach-on-ophelia-36231183.html

Quote
"Even when the storm has passed there will still be dangers," he said, noting that trees will be blocking roadways and powerlines will be done.

The Taoiseach said there are four key pieces of advice at this stage:
 1. Stay indoors

 2. Check on your neighbours and elderly relatives
 3. Even if it seems calm now "it's coming your way"

 4. There will still be life-threatening dangers after the storm has abated.
The National Emergency Co-ordination Group will meet three times today to update the national response

It could be close to midnight before Ophelia clears the northern tip of the country.

Stay safe, Jim.  News outlets in the United States report that virtually every part of Ireland will be subjected to three hours of tropical storm winds before the day is done.

I wonder if this will become more common with climate change and rising water temperatures
