How long is it taking in Ga.  I was put on the waitlist in March.  I see the number keeps going down and I am hoping that mine is about to go through....  I am on welvista right now.

hang in there dawg. Georgia has had a list for quite some time (a couple of years); but there was just a press release about federal funding.

Under the fiscal year 2013 spending bill passed by the Appropriations Committee yesterday, funding for the Ryan White ADAP would increase by $30 million over FY12 levels for a total of $963 million. According to the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD), there are 2,170 people on ADAP waiting lists in 9 states and hundreds of people have been disenrolled from the program due to budget constraints and growing enrollment. The amount passed by the Committee includes a continuation of the $35 million in emergency funding announced by President Obama on World AIDS Day last December 1st to address the escalating ADAP wait list. While this amount does not meet the actual need of an increase of $190 million nor President Obama's proposed increase of $67 million, it will help reduce the wait lists and provide lifesaving medications to more people in need.

Thanks leatherman I guess it is a wait and see.  I am on welvista because of all things I have private insurance and am considered underinsured.... Apparently according to BCBS I should be able to handle a 760 a month co-pay LOL even with a co-pay card I cannot fork out 560 a month

YIPPPPEEEE Got the call today my ADAP was approved.  Only three months on the list.  From what I hear that is great for Georgia.  Anyone else using express scripts?

Wow g-dawg, that's excellent news!  ;D
It's even better news to hear during a time when the counts on the waiting lists are going up again.

Now that you have that ADAP, make sure to keep up on the renewals so that you don't get kicked off!

Is ADAP paying for the meds or covering your insurance? if it's just covering the insurance don't forget to check out the co-pay programs the pharmaceutical companies offer.

Because I'm on the state hiv task force here and the advocacy coordinator at my ASO I have to say one more thing - Don't forget to get involved in your state also by writing letters to your legislators or going to a rally to make sure you make your voice heard in your state to keep GA funding ADAP. (I haven't checked into GA politics; but depending on how they have been funding ADAP (if they have LOL), you might even just write your legislators to thank them for the funding.)

When we had a rally a few years ago here in SC, with over 2100 people using ADAP, we only got 250 people to a rally at the State Capital and only 2 of those people actually used ADAP. That was just a terrible turnout. While I understand that ADAP helps people get their meds so they stay healthy to keep working, I think it's imperative that people make sure they do their part in keeping these programs going. If you're staying alive because ADAP is supplying your meds it should be a big concern of yours to keep ADAP properly funded. ;)

Again though, that's GREAT news to hear!! Thanks for letting us know.  ;)

I have a private policy that I pay for out of pocket.  Had it before testing poz so I am holding onto it and my life insurance.  ADAP is covering the difference between what my BCBS pays and the cost of the meds.  So they are picking up the 760.00 a month the my BCBS will not pay.

WooHoo! I bet this situation now will make your life a whole lot easier to manage being able to hang onto that kind of money.  :D

I spoke with Montgomery Aids Outreach in Montgomery, AL yesterday afternoon.  They claim that Alabama has cleared its waiting list, at least for the time being.

sorry :'( but someone must have been mistaken as Alabama has reported, to NASTAD which compiles all the national lists, an additional 13 people recently added to the state waiting list.

talk to your case mgr. about this. I don't think federal privacy regs should allow for the med names to be visible.

Personally, I've have had the contents/packing list visible and I've never had to sign for delivery - with ADAP meds, or with any delivery service.

It was the first delivery so I am going to call and chat with the pharmacy and see if this is their norm... I think they may be coming by currier right now because of the heat wave that we are having down south.

yes, it is hot enough right now (105 the last couple of days here in SC) that I'm sure glad I'm not still getting norvir gelcaps. I don't think the mylar bags with the ice packs would be holding up all that well. LOL

good ideas about checking in with pharmacy. next step after that would be the ADAP case mgr. Hopefully you can get things worked out better. At least though, you gotta be glad that you're getting meds  ;) even if the system isn't perfect.

True I am just glad that my partner was at home to sign for them and that he is in the loop on things.  I would feel horrible for anyone that is not out about their status having their meds sent like that.

Solution the pharmacy is in Atl about 50 minutes from me.  we have a few places in Atl that we love to eat so when I need a refill we do and have a lunch date and pick them up.  When life deals you lemons make lemonade.... Or squirt them in the bitches eye and hope it burns like hell....

ROFLMAO

glad you figured out a good solution that makes you happy - and gets you a nice dinner out. ;D I've always treated myself for handling my HIV, so I love your solution. I used to buy myself expensive candy and several computer magazines after going to the doctor, or having blood work drawn. Now I too go out to eat.

See my bf lives 20 miles south of our ASO, and I live 20 miles north. Whenever either one of us goes to the clinic, we make arrangements to meet up  - and eat out somewhere. He comes up for blood work on this Thurs, and I get to pick the restaurant this time - so it's BBQ at Burkes for us. Although I've been back home for 3 yrs this Sept, after all those years up in Ohio I still can't get enough sun and heat - or BBQ. :-*
