18th July - Peer support call - HIV Meds.

numbersguy82:

Really amazing presentation- Thank you Michael. I can honestly say, that after 13 years, you’ve taught me some new things. I found the different medications, and how each class approaches treating HIV, the most interesting.  Also I learned that my never having taken my medication at the same time daily, hasn’t really affected my overall treatment!

Thanks! I was really glad that I could present this information about the HIV life cycle, medications and what they do, and what drug resistance is and how to not have that problem (take your daily meds!)

Jim will be posting a link to a pdf version of this presentation. If anyone would like to know more about how HIV meds work against HIV make sure to grab it and a take a look! If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me or post your question here....or make plans to attend our peer support group next month. You're going to be on ARVs for the rest of your life, you might as well know what they're doing for you!  ;) :D

Speaking of Jim, a big thanks :-* to him for giving such great information in the Q&A session afterwards. While I've learned a lot about HIV in my 40 yrs. living with it, and I've taken a lot of the medications, I can't even begin to rattle off all those generic drug names and regimens like Jim does. Dude! You're brilliant! :D

A very informative session and an excellent presentation and I loved the discussion and questions. I will post some notes including a link to the deck presented by Micheal later today.

My notes will be posted tomorrow instead, sorry all.  Without going into details it's been a dramatic day and I need sleep.

Best, Jim.

;D Thanks, you make me blush, I wish I could take credit but it stems from my first ID that said to survive  you need to learn more than the doctors. Times have changed thankfully.

ojo.          @JimAllen, my friend I forgot the ask you that send ne an invite, I can’t wait to see what the expert Michael have shared with you guys… please, Jim, I want to participate in the peer support group. Although next month, I will have something better to do. I would be suffering on the beautiful wishes of Cancun, MEXICO, but maybe for September I will be able to attend, obviously if you invite me.

Just to remember all those years when all of us were learning about the pandemic makes me sad. What I remember the most is when people were dying alone and the doctors and nurses had to wear like astronaut suit. Just like people with Covid hat to endure. As remember, my father telling his girlfriend via video camera that he felt so lonely because nobody was able to visit him. He died depressed because he didn’t want to be tubed… anyway, it is what it is. Times have changed for better speaking of HIV treatment so call me let’s stop playing the victims let’s be VICTORS because we can still make plans for the future and for those who want to have babies, they can have them HIV free… Hugs
