Am I at risk?

Hello there.

I am living in hell for about two weeks already and need some clarification (tired of looking out for information online).

I'm a male and two weeks ago I was at the gym sauna at night alone, then a guy came in started looking a lot at me. One thing led to another and we started to masturbate each other. It didn't last long because I am very anxious and in situations like this I rarely last more than a minute. When the guy realised I was about to ejaculate, he got some of his pre cum on his finger and inserted the tip of his finger (about 2 cm) in my anus for literally just a few seconds.

I got very worried because I had problems with anal fissures before, but I had none by then. I checked after everything and there was no blood.

Because I really didn't trust the guy, I called pep line and told them everything. But the guy just asked me to talk to a GP and didn't direct me for PEP provider. Anyway I manage to buy Prep but could only start it after 40 hours.

Am I at risk here? I just need some peace of mind. I see on the internet that has never been recorded not even one case of HIV by getting fingered, is this still a fact?

I asked a few doctors online and the majority said I didn't need PEP, and some said I needed. There is a lot of misinformation out there, so I was wondering maybe here I can get a definite answer.

What you posted wasn't an HIV risk, no HIV exposure, no testing is needed over these activities and certainly no PEP.

Move on with your life.

Are you under some illusion that you don't get HIV from people you trust? Have you been taking risks and having condomless sex with people when you "trust" them? Or do you prehaps think that only untrustworthy people can pass on HIV?

If so, then you are on an excellent path to acquiring HIV. Plenty of sob stories from people who thought it was safe because they "trusted" someone. Trust does not prevent HIV, and lack of trust doesn't transmit it.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Thanks for answering so fast. This forum is such a blessing, you do a great work helping everyone.

I am not actually sexually active with strangers, I am very cautious because of this fear.

The reason why I say I didn’t trust the guy is because he was acting weird, probably horny I guess.

Could you answer me one more question?

Another thing that’s scaring me a lot is the fact that this guy had something he was holding with his mouth. It looked to me like a stationary bulldog clip, but it could also be the keys to a locker I don’t know.

I’m just wondering if this had it all planned, and maybe hurt his finger before putting in me. Would blood here be a risk? Or is it the same thing as pre cum?

Turn your imagination off. You do not need PEP. Just as Jim has already told you, none of your real life activities were an HIV risk. Please move on with your life.

Hey guys.

I really appreciate your help. I thought I was banned from the forum, but I just needed a subscription.

Are you guys sure I don't need testing and I can just let this behind me? I know you guys have been studying and understanding the transmission for years right and I can trust this forum?

I just don't seem to be able to let this go and it seems so ridiculous because I swear that was all that happened. He inserted the tip of his finger in me with precum for a few seconds and since then I haven't done anything else sexually.

I had to take time off work, I am on medication for anxiety and depression and I have been thinking about this 24/7 and is so tiring and exhausting

I am also testing every week since finishing PEP, costing a lot of money. So far I have three negative tests. I don't even know why I am doing this since I was already told I don't to get tested.

This is an HIV forum and your problem is not HIV.

I have searched for other cases in which you dealt with a no risk situation with people with OCD/HIV Phobia and got some peace from your advice to them.

I know it's not your job to deal with my irrational fears.

I will not post here again and take your risk assessment as conclusive and try to move on with my life and stop testing. I appreciate your support and patience.

Could I just ask you where you get info to provide accurate risk assessments? This is the only place that seems to give us the real thing, everywhere else there is just people that don’t seem to know a thing and this makes really hard to know what to believe.

When you say no one has ever been infected through being fingered with or without fluids, does that mean you keep yourself up to date on this statistics? You’ve never seen a case from here as well?

Just wanted to make sure I can safely let this go and not test again since this was the only “sexual” thing I had.

All assessments are based on up-to-date scientific data and peer-reviewed studies.

Your concerns lack the basic biological/environmental conditions that are simultaneously required to acquire HIV, and hence nobody has ever acquired HIV the way you are concerned.

Being fingered lacks a route not to mention the fluids on their fingers had also been exposed outside of the confines of the human body. HIV is fragile, and the receptors degrade outside the human body, leaving HIV unable to infect.

We could go on for ages calling out the barriers and lack of conditions for your concerns, but there is no point. You had no HIV risk from being fingered and fingering is a very common sexual practice.

Move on with your life. Out of kindness and to help you move on I am giving you that 28-day ban as mentioned previously.
