Crystal, GBL/GHB and Kamagra
« on: July 20, 2008, 05:32:54 am »
 ???
Yesterday for the first time I tried these drugs. I was with some guys met online and when I got to the flat they were all "high". They asked me if I wanted to join in and I didn't want to spoil the fun, plus I was curious too, so I went ahead.

With it being my 1st time, they gave me 1ml of GHB and I smoked some Crystal (2-3 drags in total). I also took half pill of Kamagra.

We had a good time and I have to admit I felt less "high" than what I thought I would. My head was spinning a bit, but I was in control and remember everything that happened.

It was worse later when I got home, feeling spaced out and unable to sleep for hours. Kind of depressed too. I don't think it was worth it and I won't try that again.

I just wanted to ask what are the interactions (if any) with HIV meds, I am on Sustiva/Truvada, and if HIVers should abstain from these drugs even more so than neg people.

(I searched on these forums but couldn't really find any information on this)

Sounds like a UK/London thing (Kamagra).  Sustiva reduces the blood levels of Viagra, so I assume the same is probably true of Kamagra.  But that only means you may need to take a higher dose of Viagra/Kamagra to get the desired effect.  So not a negative reaction in your case.

I don't know about Crystal or GHB.  Probably not a direct interaction, but may make you do things that may not be healthy for you while under the influence (like forget to take your meds, have loads of unsafe sex, etc..).

Sounds like you didn't use too much, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, I think Kamagra and Viagra are the same thing. I tried putting "Kamagra" on Wiki and got redirected to the "Viagra" page.

I read on here though that HIV meds have actually the opposite effect to what you describe: they actually increase the amount of Viagra in your system and therefore you should take half of the recommended dose (that is why I only took half).

This is what Vokz wrote: "PIs and NNRTIs are metabolised by the same liver enzymes that process Viagra .. meaning that you can get significantly higher levels of Viagra in the blood.

The bonus is that you get more erection for your money .. the downside is that, if you don’t reduce the dose, the Viagra side effects (priapism, headaches, indigestion, congestion, disturbance of vision and raised blood pressure etc) are also likely to much be more noticeable.

I believe that's true for PI's, but I don't think it is for NNRTI (Sustiva), which is what you are taking.  I'm not sure where Vokz got his information, but check out the following link:

http://www.aidsmeds.com/archive/Sustiva_1615.shtml

Quote
Blood levels of Viagra (sildenafil) and Levitra (vardenafil), two drugs used for erectile dysfunction, can decrease if they are combined with Sustiva. In turn, it may be necessary to increase the dose of Viagra or Levitra to achieve the desired effect.

Yes, HIVers suffer more with these drugs than non-HIVers.  Several studies have shown that viral replication in the brain increases 5-15 times in the presence of methamphetamine (crystal).  Also, the hit on appetite and hydration isn't going to help you, either.  And given that you need a good liver and good kidneys to process the Sustiva/Truvada combination, it would be wise to assume that any chemical cooked up in a bathtub or a super-lab is going to harm one of those routes for metabolising and clearing meds.

As for the feelings of depression and malaise, that's the dopamine metabolism in your brain talking.  The high from crystal comes from overwhelming your normal brain chemistry, while the crash is from it begging for more.  Imagine being thrown on a treadmill at its highest speed for as long as you could handle it, then gasping for air afterwards---that's basically what your brain is going through.  Having snorted plenty of cocaine and downed lots of MDMA during the early 80s, I know what you mean about the clarity.... I've often commented "I could have sex with 60 men in a night and the next morning know to whom to send thank-you notes!"  Given some of the craziness I acted out while high, I really find the clarity more of a curse than anything.

That you came here to ask questions about how the drugs affect our bodies gives me hope that you won't fall down the slipper slope of regular use.

Namaste,
David

Be carefull, i thought I was going to do it just one time and that was 7 years ago, I ended up using for 6.5 years.  Do your best to remember the crash or coming down and depressed part next time you are offered the chance to party.

Meth is like fertilizer for HIV, I have all my lab results and can see how the CD4 went down when using and back up when not, I'm talking in the 100's range not just a few of them, so I would assume the fewer you have the worse the drug is for you.

Yeah bro... Crystal meth is why I am where I am today... I can't change it but if I knew how much a part of my life it would become I would have never ever tried it. Sometimes I still think about it and the high... but It almost killed me and now I think about how lucky I am to be alive... My advice... stay far far away from it!

please  share this meth poem with people you love
*********

I destroy homes. I tear families apart. I take your children, and that's just the start.
I'm more valued than diamonds, more precious than gold.
The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.
If you need me, remember: I'm easily found. I live all around you, in school and in town.
I live with the rich. I live with the poor. I live just down the road, and maybe next door.
I'm made in a lab, but, not in one like you think. I can be made under your kitchen sink.
Or in your child's closet, and even in the woods.
If this scares you to death, it certainly should!
I have many names, but there's one you'll know best.
I'm sure you've heard of me: my name is Crystal Meth.
My power is awesome. Try me and you'll see. But if you do, you may never break free.
Just try me once, and I might let you go. But try me twice, then I'll own your soul.
When I possess you, you'll steal and you'll lie. You'll do what you half to, just to get high.
The crimes you'll commit for my narcotic charms,
will be worth the pleasure you'll feel in my arms.
You'll lie to your mother. You'll steal from your dad.
When you see their tears you must not feel sad.
Just forget your morals, and how you were raised. I'll be your conscience.
I'll teach you my ways.
I take kids from their parents. I take parents from kids. I turn people from God.
I separate friends.
I'll take everything from you; even your good looks, and your pride.
I'll be with you always, right there by your side.
You'll give up everything; your family, your home, your money, your friends.
  You'll be all alone.
I'll take and I'll take, 'till you've no more to give.
When I finish with you, you'll be lucky to live.
IF YOU TRY ME, BE WARNED: THIS IS NOT A GAME.
If I'm given the chance, I'll drive you insane.
I'll ravage your body. I'll control your mind.
I'll own you completely. Your soul will be mine.
The nightmares I'll give you when you're lying in bed, and the voices you'll hear,
from inside your head.
The sweats, the shakes, and the visions you'll see;
I want you to know these are your gifts , from me.
By then its to late, and you'll know in your heart that you are now mine,
and we shall not part.
You'll regret that you tried me (THEY ALWAYS DO). But you came to me, not I to you.
You knew this would happen. How many times were you told?
But you challenged my power. You chose to be bold.
You could have said 'no', and then walked away.
If you could live that day over, now what would you say?
My power is awesome, as I told you before.
I can take your mother and turn her into a whore.
I'll be your master and you'll be my slave. I'll even go with you when you go to your grave.
Now that you've met me, what will you do? Will you try me or not? It's all up to you.
I can show you more misery than words can tell.
Come, take my hand, and let me lead you to Hell

Meth is bad for anyone  and  seems to fuck with the immune system  enough to make it extra fertile ground  for the virus
The thing about non HIVers and Meth  is  who wants to take a drug that leaves you poor, friendless, toothless looking  ten years older than you are and very susceptible to contracting HIV ? That was rhetorical. It's the poor bastards  who think it won't eventually happen to them...it does...anyone saying not me is just  nearer the top of a slippery slope. I am glad you asked about it before  making it a habit. To me it's like heroin or crack.  casual crack head or casual heroin addict are oxymorons. A lot   of people party and do a lot of drugs safely  but I haven't heard about a lot of casual crackheads
If someone tells you  potential consequences of a behavior  it  doesn't  mean they jude you or mit    they may just give a shit about you
