Title: Scared about possible HIV Infection
Post by: timothywong on May 13, 2011, 04:47:20 am
Here is what happened:

A guy was sucking and biting my nipples. While he was biting my nipples, I noticed the next day that I had cuts around my nipples which could have led to bleeding of my nipples. I don't know if the guy who sucked and bit my nipples had bleeding gums. I cannot exclude that there could have been some blood also from the cuts around my nipples.

I therefore need your advice on the risks for HIV transmission on this particular case assuming the cuts around my nipples were bleeding and the guy who bit my nipples had bleeding gums and the type of test that needs to be carried out. I am a bit worried because of this and was looking for the earliest test possible. This exposure happened on the 2nd May 2011.

On a scale of 0 to 10, how high would you rate the risk of HIV transmission from this exposure?

Would you say the risks are high or low? If low, how low? (extremely low, quite low, fairly low? Would you say I need to carry out testing basing on this exposure? Would you say the risks are zero?

Thank you.

Timothy,

This is a zero risk.

HIV is a fussy virus. It is transmitted in very particular ways namely via unprotected anal and vaginal sex, by sharing contaminated injecting equipment such as needles and syringes and in some cases from HIV positive mother to her unborn or nursing infant.

You do not need to be tested for HIV as a result of this situation.
