My jaw hurts from all this SUCKING

Just wanted to let you know I am on my third week of not whipping out a fag and sucking on it.  However my jaw hurts from the chewing gum and sucking on lozenges....   I think I am going to whip this one!!  No going back!  Me and Will are off to Denver for a elongated weekend.  No doctors appointments, no blood work.   Just R&R and maybe even some naughty bits...

Good Job!!!!  The urges come and go.  I know you'll handle it.  One would think there are better things you could put in your mouth other than gum and lozenges...

All this talk of sucking and urges, I thought that I was in another thread.  :)  May your weekend away be a reward for the week, with lot's of sucking and urges of the right sort.  Congratulations, Eric.  We know, at least, that you wont' be eating... well food, given the other effort. Best, Win

I knew you could do it!!!  Keep doing what you're doing -- and the days will continue to mount and your lungs will return to a nice clean state.

Now about the sore jaw -- I say do some more sucking exercises this weekend -- you obviously need to strengthen those muscles   ;D .

Good deal on quitting the smoking, Eric.

It may take a bit, but you're going to begin to notice changes as your body gets over the addiction, and yes, it is an addiction. Your lungs are gonna be very thankful.

When I look back now on when I smoked, I wonder what was I thinking? But that's it...I wasn't thinking. These days I value life as more precious with each passing day.

Now, Nature does abhor a vacuum, so watch and see what other impulses and/or cravings turn up for you now.

In fact, and go ahead and throw something at me now if you want to, you might keep a post-smoking journal and note something each day about the experience. ...Just a suggestion.

It ain't easy but you are taking good care of yourself by giving up the habit.

I feel really good about this...  I know I am not over the humps with triggers popping up, but in relation to getting hit with hiv and dealing with all the stresses with that, this has been 10,000 times easier (for me).   I will not allow my body to negotiate a raw deal with me brain again...  Now I think my mind and body are more on the same page in as far as I think they both wish to live as long as forecasted.. 

These well wishes give me all the more reason to "Hold Fast" and stay this course...

There's something about this stay the course stuff that's lost it's magic in recent years.   :)

If your jaw soreness is a TMJ thing, you should consider taking some MSM or Glucosamine (sp?) for your joints.

All the chewing and sucking is far better than smoking.  3 weeks is good news.

Before you know it you will be Completely nicotine and smoke free and trying to find other things to put in your mouth to suck on....   I quit almost 7 years ago, man do you realize how nasty smoking is once you quit... Hang in there and keep up the good work... D
