Vasculitis? No spike in CSF proteins, VL is undetec?
« on: April 04, 2008, 05:07:33 pm »
Hey all you might be interested in my 3-day hospital stay I just had. Any comments or similiar stories are welcomed.
I was diagnosed in May, '07 with a retinal artery occlusion, not that serious just a "fuzzy bar" obstructing vision in my (R) eye. Doc said it may go away by itself, fast-forward to present , and (same eye) I noticed more obstructions. Contacted my PCP and my opthamologist - they admitted me to the hospital and after undergoing numerous diagnostic test (MRI-A/Lumbar puncture and lots of drawn blood), negative for all OI's including CMV retinitis, and conditions like Lupus/ Wegener's, and I am only 24 - the best they could come up with is HIV with idiopathic vasculitis.
The reason for it being idiopathic is my CD4's are in the 700's and my viral load has been suppressed for over two years now.
This is just a simple abstract of what happened to me these past couple of days.

Hello,

Just wondering if they looked into whether or not you may have some plaque in the carotid arteries (neck) which can dislodge and occlude the smaller arteries?  Or if there may be an undetected heart wall (septum) abnormality that could lead to tiny clots making its way into the arterial system?  A cardiologist may be able to help figure this out (or at least get them ruled out).

Thanks for the reply Gary, I had a carotid doppler done, squeaky clean. I have Mitral Valve Prolapse and saw my cardiologist he did a transesopheageal echo and that was also clean. What else could it be?
