Brian Eno - "Spider & I" (1977)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZE4_AuXiVo

Quote
Spider and I sit watching the sky
On a world without sound
We knit a web to catch one tiny fly
For our world without sound
We sleep in the mornings
We dream of a ship that sails away
A thousand miles away.

The Velvet Underground - "Rock and Roll" (1970)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dahqz-R49I

Quote
Jenny said when she was just five years old
My parents are gonna be the death of us all
Two TV sets and two Cadillac cars--
Ain't gonna help us at all

Then one fine mornin' she puts on a New York station
She don't believe what she heard at all
She started dancin' to that fine fine music
You know her life was saved by Rock 'n' Roll

Despite all the computations
You could just dance to a rock 'n' roll station
And it was alright!

Do you like alt. country, fabio? If not, you should look into it.

Also... check out Michael Penn, which is not alt. country, but has a certain feel I think you will like.

so you know when you hear a song, and then you put it on repeat for, like, forever?

well, I spent my weekend, when I wasn't going to two Christmas parades in two days in my small city and a neighboring town, baking Christmas cut-out cookies listening to an Erasure playlist a thousand times (it takes forevvvvver to cook and decorate 4 batches of these cookies), and I decided I really love of the sound of "Storm in a Teacup"
https://youtu.be/wwr3Wx0K0Pw

I started off this week at the gym though stuck thoroughly on a totally different song by Keiynan Lonsdale (he was in "love, simon") - Gods Of The Disco
https://youtu.be/fvSerO6Xzg0

I've got this song on repeat and got through it three times before I had to get off that damned elliptical machine. (ugh. getting healthier suuucks) I did almost fall off the elliptical halfway through though. LOL

I was texting a friend about this older woman (she used to go to the planet fitness we all went to in another city) who was here in the new planet fitness in my town. She and I had been friendly for a while but had words one time which clearly, by the glares she's always giving me, were still stinging after several years. My friend couldn't remember who I was talking about until I described her as the wiry-haired lady who's a bitch. A few minutes later, I glanced at his incoming reply: "she's a whore". Not only did I bust out laughing so loud that everyone turned to look; but I whacked by head on one of the handles and nearly fell off the backwards off the treads. What's the damned machine tell me? "Pedal Faster 20...19...18...17" ;D

ok. since I've interrupted this song thread with my gym story (but did I interrupt? I did post 2 great songs? Ha!) here's another gym-related story

So I'm checking out in the grocery store where the cute bagger boy is chatting with the older cashier woman while I'm getting my items rung up. He glances at me, nods, smiles, says "nice hair", and tells the cashier that he wants to do something with his hair and really likes mine.

I get this allll the time from "kids". ugh. I sound old saying that. I'm mean I don't look like I'm about to be 60; I'm active and personable; and I've got this faux-hawk going on, often with a stripe of some colored gel across the tips. It seems everywhere I go (amusement parks, parades, the gym, stores) there's always somebody (always in their teens to thirties) saying something nice about my funky hair. And it's not even the amazing coco-cola red that I had it dyed a few years back. LOL

As I walk away, after pleasantries from both cashier and bagger to "have a nice day", I could just hear the bagger quietly speaking to the cashier. "Nice hair...(pause) and a nice butt too," he says  ??? :-[ :P 8) of course after telling my husband, now he won't quit teasing me about my nice butt, and every trip to the grocery he's trying to figure out which bagger it was. Thinking about it all, I guess I don't hate the elliptical as much as I thought did!  ;D ;D

here's another song I'm doing on the elliptical now

Electric Light Orchestra
LOVE ELO!

Sadly never got to see them. My 2nd late partner took me to see McCartney, Bowie and Prince, and we had tickets to ELO (2006 or 07) but they canceled and never rescheduled.

don't know why I'm so chatty (or is it "type-y"?) but here's one more story today, and it's ELO-related.

I was raised very fundamental Baptist, and Rock-n-roll was the devil's music. Of course by the time I was 16 and working in fast food, I was starting to find out there was more to the world than just hymns and psalms. A co-worker friend got me "out of the blue" for a christmas gift. Although I kept it well hidden, only bringing it out to play for my younger brothers after school at home with no parents, eventually my dad found it.....and broke it over my head! BTW Jet albums are very thick vinyl and take 3 solid hits to a skull before cracking. Three months later, my friend replaced that album for my birthday. Unfortunately my new hiding spot was no better than the first, and this second album was soon destroyed the same way. It wasn't until  years later, when my first late partner surprised me one birthday, remembering the story I told him way back when we were first dating, with a CD version that I still have over 2 decades later.

ELO - Night in the City

We were standing all alone
You were leaning in to speak to me
Acting like a mover shaker
Dancing to Madonna then you kissed me
And I think about it all the time

LOVE ELO!
Me too.. something about their sound always mellows out my mood. I believe it's great medicine for depression.

Jesus fucking Christ, ouch! And over ELO? .. what would he have done if he'd caught you with albums by Alice Cooper, Kiss or Black Sabbath.. probably would have thrown you out a window.

Now here's the ultimate love song for when you really mean business.

Went to get my labs done yesterday and the technicians had some hip hop music playing. Young people may think of me a prude, but I really didn't think it was a good idea to play hard thumping music in that environment.. think it should've been something soft, don't care what kind as long as it's mello, or nothing at all.

It was weird cause the tech who took my blood said to me she hated that music.. I just shrugged and thanked her for taking my blood. I was already stressed so I didn't want to talk about how inappropriate I thought it was.

On my way home, turned on my radio and this old love song played.. really didn't realize just how beautiful a love song that is, and how old I've become.

so facebook lead me to youtube and youtube wouldn't let go for hours. You know it's one thing to hear songs but it's a whole other thing to see songs....so following that stupid suggestion list on utube often leads me from new songs to old songs to, well, to weird stuff sometimes. LOL

So i don't know what link lead to what link but I ended up really hooked on this group Autoheart. Style wise I think they're sorta Erasure-esque.
