Title: First out of towner arrives safe & sound!
Post by: allanq on September 11, 2007, 12:05:54 am
I had the honor of greeting Miss Jan at SFO, the first out of town arrival to AMG 07.

That woman has incredible energy. I dropped her off at the hotel, and less than half an hour later she was ready for a day of errands and sightseeing. That's after a 12.5-hour, 6600-mile flight from Auckland. (And that doesn't count the two planes she had to take in New Zealand just to get to the Auckland airport.)

Jan is great! We had a wonderful day together. Wheels are already turning in my head about a visit to New Zealand.

I'm exhausted!

See everyone soon,

Allan

What a dynamo!  I think Jan told me that all together it was about a 19 hour experience to get from point A to B for her.

I'm getting poised for my MASSIVE 5 hour trip on Thursday. ::)

Can't wait!  I'll have my head stuck in the window the whole way:  Ooooh......aaaaaah.  Look how pretty.

Hi everyone

Well as Allan has told you I arrived safe and sound, I had a good sleep on the plane so I was ready for my first visit to SF..poor Allan.. :D

What a wonderful man, nothing was too much for him, he was the perfect guide..he took me to the memorial gardens and it's a beautiful secluded place and perfect for our service, we then went to the highest part of the city and it was an incredible view...we ended the day with a lovely meal in a really nice restaurant..can't remember the name sorry.

Hotel is really nice and I probably had the best sleep I've had in ages...so hurry up and get here because I'm ready to go... ;)

Just waiting for Rocky to arrive.

Take care
Hugs to you all.

Jan :-*

take care and talk to you all soon.

Herman should be there sometime today. His plane was delayed because of a possible bomb threat in Frankfurt. He plans on getting a hotel near SFO airport tonight. I will post something when he calls me.

Glad Jan made it safely, see you Wednesday AM.

The arrivals continue...

RAB arrived this morning and I had lunch with him and Jan at Lori's Diner, just up the street from the hotel. We did a little sightseeing along Market Street to see the beautiful restored dome of the old Emporium Department store (now Bloomingdale's). It's right across the street from the hotel. Then we continued walking a few blocks down Market Street to the Palace Hotel to see the interior garden court with its magnificent skylights.

Wow

I had no idea folks were gonna be here so early!  I am triply psyched now!!!

Have you found an off-site headquarters yet (meaning a fun bar to hang out in)?  If not, let me suggest Ginger's Trois on Kearney.  It's about 5 blocks from the hotel, 5-10 minutes walking.  They are friends, and fun.  The manager is from Lou-ah-vull, too.

I have a commitment tomorrow from 12:30 until probably 4, give or take an hour, but I would love, love love to get together for adult beverages tomorrow if anyone is in town and interested.

Any takers, post here and I will check tomorrow.  We can hook it up from there.

Cool, cool, cool  ;D  ;D   Sing along:   San Francisco, open your golden...........

Good point.  Over 21 only, of course.  How many does that cut out?  I know coffee joints as well.

I'll definitely be ready for a drink.  My flight lands at noon tomorrow and I should have all errands completed by dinner time.

Peace,
Dennis

Not going to happen.  My flight departs at 6am so I have to be up in 3 hours and I'm still finishing up some loose ends.

I am getting excited - and nervous.

I can't wait to see those I know again, and meet all those I have yet to hug in person.

See you all Thursday.

HUGS,

Mark

I am so disgusted that I have to wait until Saturday for my trip!  I knew reading these posts would make me jealous.  Well, I went out to our brand new Apple store and made myself feel better by buying a new iPhone (I have been craving one since they went on sale in late June.)  It is a wonderful new gadget...but I will still rather be in SF right now!

I will keep checking for updates...it is at least a vicarious thrill.

I will join everyone on Saturday.  I am going to not drink at the wedding reception Friday night so that I can be in good shape when I catch up with you guys.  I do reserve the right to drink then!

Until then, everyone have the best of times and I hope we all have safe and pleasant journeys.

See you soon!

Dennis,

Great!  Call me when you get to town (you should already have the number) and we can hook up.  If you call before 12:30 local time you'll get me.  Otherwise leave me a VM with a number (phone or room) where I can reach you.  My afternoon "thing" may run until 4, or 5, or I may finish at 3.  i won't know until it's over.  But both the "thing" and my apartment are very close to the hotel.

Get as many together as feel the spirit, and we can hoof it to the bar together.  It's about 5 blocks.  Guaranteed fun times.  I know tonight's bartender:  he's a celebrity.  Used to be on TV.  He can tell ya the rest.   ;)

In departure lounge now.  If all goes as planned, I should be arriving in SFO in 12 hours (1:30 p.m.).  Had a celebrity sighting already.  Was in security queue behind Liz Hurley and her husband (khan something or another).  No holes in his or her socks.  Nice tight fitting jeans though.

She's in the lounge now, talking loud on her mobile.

See y'all soon.
