ESL teacher working abroad
« on: May 25, 2017, 11:55:13 am »
Hi everyone I recently graduated from college and I want to be an English teacher abroad not sure yet where but I would like to know if there are any ESL teachers and what are their experiences? Is it easy to get medications? I know some countries have restrictions for people who are positive so I wouldn't be looking at those but the ones who don't have restrictions I wanna know if there is easy access to doctors and medications any recommendations please? This is my dream job and what I went to school for and sometimes I get discouraged thinking I wont be able to live abroad because my HIV but hopefully there is good advice.
Thank you for your comments

Hi from Japan.
Here is one.  I am an interpreter/language instructor residing in TOKYO.
I am a Japanese national born and raised here but l learned the English language and now l teach at companies and schools and do some interpreting work in some institutions.
Japan has a high level of demand.  Check the "ALT program" in Japan.
Japanese National.
Language:  Japanese and English

Thailand is a good place to go to teach English.

Pay is lower.  Around $1000 for most positions.  Better if you have qualifications to work in International Schools.

HIV care and treatment not a problem.  Keep you status private however.  There is still a lot of stigma.  If you teach upcountry (provinces) get HIV treatment in Bangkok.  Not at provincial hospital in same local as work.

Plenty of University, Teacher Colleges, Regular High Schools and Elementary schools to teach in.

What medications are you currently taking.  Check the Adams Love  website for costs of drugs at Red Cross Clinic.

The Japanese ALT program is excellent but I have no first hand knowledge.

Korea is out as it had mandatory testing.
